Title: Etiquette Classes

I'm sitting here watching the news, and there's this lady on who teaches business & social etiquette classes....I guess that's fine, but today she's talking about the etiquette classes she does.....

FOR CHILDREN??? Teaching them good table manners, how to "sit patiently during a holiday dinner"...that kind of stuff.

I mean, seems weird to me because shouldn't that be the parent's job?

Amen sister!! amen! this is the parents job! But - I guess if you have enough money to pay someone to train your kids table manners - you have enough money to pay someone to just..........trian your kids.

That's the truth....it was just flooring me, though, (they had 2 little girls on that I'm assuming had or were taking her class)...watching their "perfect" manners....they had better manners than I do!!

And it was really weird....they were like little grown-ups....I mean, isn't part of being a kid hiding food in your napkin, spilling your milk, throwing a pea at the cousin you hate??? You know, KID stuff!!

Was for me! My brother HATED when you would put your chewed gum on the side of your plate...so....I ALWAYS did it.

I mean - there is something to be said for your kids obeying when you are at the table & having manners. But come on! Classes? IMHO - it's a case of parents that don't want to discipline their children.

I think this was something done a long time ago. Maybe early 19th century? It's interesting to see that there's actually an interest in children's manners. When I see some kids I have to wonder...

I think that's a little out there because I fully believe that it's my job to train my child in the way they should go. But heck, if the parents aren't gonna do it some one needs to!
