If I walked out onto the back deck wearing a bathing suit like that, my kids would probably die of laughter! :rolf:

Those Lydia of Purple suits remind me of when I was stuffed in a period 1860's dress for a "cemetary walk" production...Guests would be toured through an old cemetary, and at the grave of some dignitaries, a costumed "actor" would do the role of the deceased and talk about his/her life.

Anyways, I was doing the role of a governor's wife. When I was in the church's nun's school, my mom threw me my costume. The bodice was beautiful, all in black and embroidered with jet (a black stone used to signify deep mourning). The overskirt was beautiful...Very full and swishy, with black tassels and jet.

It was the underskirting which threw me off...TWELVE layers of underskirting! :o The last layer was a pair of what looked like ankle-length bloomers, with a huge slit from the front to the back. If you stood normally, the slit was closed. I looked at those bloomers in puzzlement.

My mother grinned evilly and explained that, like all ladies of that period, with all the skirting and whalebone corset, I probably wouldn't be able to sit on a toilet. Thus, the slit in the underpants was there for me to go to the restroom.

Huh?

My mother explained that most ladies from that period would find a nice secluded spot, squat a bit, and when they moved on, there was a wet spot on the grass

Ladies, you can have the "wholesome" bathing suit. After spending six hours in a dress like that, I'll take the modern amenities of today's clothing...I don't care if it shows off my cellulite!!!! :rolf:

I almost got one of those. I went with this instead. It minimizes the amount of me that can sunburn, and I'm much more comfortable in it than in the more popular suits.
