Title: Blood Pressure
Description: High, Low or Normal?

Ok, I got my blood pressure done in the grocery store at one of those "squeeze your arm" machine. Turns out that around 6 - 7 pm, my blood pressure was 100/69 and 94 heartbeats per minute. I've always been told that I have "low" blood pressure.
Did some research and found out that 100/60 can be dangerously low and may cause organ complications!
Another factor....it's PMS week. Doesn't that also drop the bp some?
How can I get my blood pressure up? I know....exercise....don't remind me! :P
Mom also has low blood pressure, so I guess I take after her in this.
How about you ladies? Care to share? :)

I have low blood pressure and always have. My dad has always had low blood pressure too so I must get it from him. I've been having my blood pressure taken regularly lately because of prenatal care and it's averaging around 100/60 and has even been as low as in the 90s/50s but the nurse said as long as I wasn't feeling any ill effects from it like faintness, etc then it was fine especially given my history of having low blood pressure anyways because that's just "normal" for me.

Mine is high....it always used to be normal BUT then I got pre-eclampsia with Andie & it shot dangerously high....now it's just back to "kinda" high...
That's why I've been trying to keep it manageable with diet & exercise....when I lost a bunch of weight (about a year ago) it went down to normal, I just gotta lose that weight again...
I don't like the idea of medicating myself....that's why I'm trying everything else before I have to do that...

Mine always sits in the 90s/50-60s range...When I'm pregnant it goes up to 100ish /60s
My neice just had to have everything checked to be enrolled in daycare in Mryland and her cholersterol came back 300!! Sh'e only 6! Blood pressure/cholesterol probs run in my husband's family so we are having A's checked pretty soon since her coussin't was so high.

What I've found is when I am not stressed, well-rested, eaten properly, not over exercised, my blood pressure is normal. Stress is the biggest factor for my BP. When I was working, it was usually high even on medication. Right now I'm still on medication, but even when I forget to take it, if I'm not stressed, it tends to be normal.
My psychiatrist put me on Wellbutrin, and that really dropped my BP big time to pretty low, like 90-100/50-60.
My resting heartrate, however, is on the low side since I am consistent and regular with my exercise. My resting heartrate is in the low to mid-50s. On the Wellbutrin, it was often in the high 30s. The low BP and low heartrate made me really not feel good. The psychiatrist took me off that and put me on Lamactil (sp?) and that seems to not impact my heart as much.
Anyway, my main point is weight, salt, and those things didn't seem to really matter for my BP, rather STRESS.

my BP is normal. i'm fairly healthy, given the fact i'm a huge hypochondriac :screwy:
but i do have hypothyroidism, and have to take a low dose of syntrhoid. that pretty much :sigh: stinks because i'll be on it for the rest of my life. hopefully i won't have to add anymore meds to that list

I didn't know that....what does that mean? :dunno: And how did you find out? Symptoms? (now I'm wondering if I have it.... :P )

i kept having like chest pain, extreme mood swings (more than during pms), very cold, always tired, heart palpitations. so when i went to dr. for physical i told him. did blood work for like diabetes, leukemia, thyroid. he thought it was thyroid. turns out it was. and hereditary. mom has it, grandma t. has it. i wasnt' particularly worried tho. but dr knew pretty much what to look for. all my other bloodwork came back good! even cholesterol. i go back every 6 mos. to check it out. google hypothryoidism-that's what i did.

My blood pressure is low. I think that's why they missed my pre-eclamsia symptoms when I was pregnant with Sean. My BP was just above normal range.

If your BP is too low, do you get headaches? :dunno:
LynnMcG - August 11, 2006 02:15 AM (GMT)
I don't know. I know I rarely get headaches.
