Honey - July 12, 2006 12:10 AM (GMT)
Do you gals get BODY aches just before your period?
I've been so achey and bloaty (I look 4 months preggers! ) from head to toe all day long...now in the evening I've been getting some cramps and nasty gassage.... a sure sign that AF is on the way. But the aching was awful. I've never had aches like this with PMS before...just another sign that I'm getting OLD? :P

Turns out I have a cold. :( Woke up around 2 am with my throat nearly on fire because it hurt so much. I'm lugging a box of kleenex everywhere with me, too. Must've picked it up from Abe last week. :boo:

Yeah, I'd almost thought that, too. Been too busy to BE sick, tho. Guess I'm not too busy now and I'll just have to take the day to :chill: with the kids and get extra rest.
Nah, I wouldn't have smacked ya for that.

I'm doing better now. Humidity seems to help and it's naturally humid today! The back of my throat still feels icky. But the aches are just about gone.
Thanks for asking!

Why do things act up at 2 in the morning? Now my right ear is TOTALLY plugged and it hurts! Mucous is all yellowish from the NeoCitran I had last night. After we go grocery shopping tonight, I definitely wanna get my ear checked with the doc at the walk-in clinic. This just hurts! :(
Stringaling - July 13, 2006 11:05 AM (GMT)
hey..Maybe we should all get PMS on our sig for a few days every month! That'll teach them how to talk to us!

Use a damp hot washcloth on your ear, it should help with the pain....
We need a "sick in bed" smilie.... :(
Honey - July 13, 2006 11:33 AM (GMT)
Yes, ma. Been using a hot water bottle and it's very awkward and clumsy....
Even if we had a sick in bed smilie, I wouldn't be able to BE in bed! :)

:P
THAT'S why I suggested a washcloth....here are some remedies I found online:
| QUOTE |
Sooth the ear with the warm, not the hot setting, of a hairdryer. Now be careful and make sure it is on the warm setting.
If you puncture a piece of garlic and pour the juice in the ear it will help to take the pain away. Garlic has a natural antibiotic, so use it, and see if it helps.
Wiggle your ear. Here's a test to help determine whether you have otitis externa (an external problem like swimmer's ear) or otitis media (middle ear infection). Grab your outer ear, says Donald Kamerer, M.D., chief of the Division of Otology at the Eye and Ear Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If you can wiggle it without pain, the problem is probably in the middle ear. If moving your outer ear causes pain, then the infection is probably in the outer ear canal.
Warm some oil to body temperature. Place a bottle of baby oil or mineral oil in a pan of body-temperature water, says Dr. Weider. Let the oil set in the water until it, too, is at body temperature. Placing a drop or two of oil in the offending ear will help lessen the pain. Caution: Never drop fluids into your ear if you think the eardrum may be ruptured or punctured.
Head off trouble. Before you get into trouble, use an over-the-counter decongestant. For instance, if you have to fly and you know your sinuses are going to back up and block your ears, take a decongestant or use nose drops an hour before you land, Dr. Weider says. At home, use a decongestant at night before you climb in bed with a stuffy head to avoid the middle-of-the-night ache.
Count on painkillers. Don't forget, an over-the-counter painkiller (aspirin, acetaminophen, or ibuprofen) will usually buy you time until you can get to a doctor, says Dr. Kamerer. |

See, I was thinking of the oil treatment with tea tree oil....BUT....if I'm going to see the doc, the oil might make it harder for him to see what's in there. It FEELS like it's the outer ear and I have been pulling it (like a baby does) and massaging it ith my mouth open and you know that dent right by the jawline? That spot's a stinger!
So it'll be just heat treatment and I've done the hair dryer thing and it's just annoying! I'll probably go lie on the couch with a hot water bottle....

A little update. I did the hot water bottle thingy while watching a couple Foghorn Leghorn cartoons with the kids and I felt some drainage coming out of the ear and the pain lessened alot....I guess that's a good thing! I've gone ahead and did oil with tea tree oil heated up on the stove, waited til it cooled down and applied niiiice waaaarm oil in the ear. Got a cotton ball stuck in it to keep it warm and to keep it from coming out. :)
AF came today! Finally. Now I'm gonna go and soak up some rays. We finally have a nice day and my tan from Sunday is fading already! :hammock:
