Run a virus scanner, full test. Also run a spyware scanner, full test.

Vacuum out your keyboard. There's probably some crumbs in there. If that doesn't fix it, you're gonna need a new keyboard. I know I can't ship one o my extras to Canada for less than what you could buy one for in the States. Make a trip to Detroit and pick up a decent computer for US$5.00

Go to http://www.antivirus.com and run the free online virus scan with all the options turned on. FaithWarrior's right - you probably picked up some spyware.

Faith_Warrior - July 6, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
Yeah I thought that at first but you dont get "~~~ W2jhydk dk[oexs tjhat dkeep/ xsemndekimngtf [out t[o a.l.l mny MNXSMN ,c[omna, ctxsP? W2jhere dek[oexs it ,c[omne gfr[omnP?" from dirty keys. Most of the time when the keyboard gets dirty some of the keys simply don't work at all. Now if the keyboard was submerged in water than this could be a possibility, either let it dry or replace it. Seeing that the character mapping is so far off, it could be from a prank virus (...or prank typist). Usually sending out your email list points to a virus as well.

Before you do anything with the new Norton, boot with the CD. It'll scan your computer with a clean boot, preventing any viruses from preventing Norton's proper operation.

You don’t have antivirus already? Hmm well here is this if you happen to not get Norton today http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 AVG (free version) is one of the best antivirus scanners out there, and I recommend that as a formally trained computer support technician. Norton works fine though and you should only have one virus scanner.

Also you need to pick up spyware scanners. You can run as many spyware scanners as you want. Antivirus scanners do not remove spyware and spy ware scanners do not remove viruses so you need to have antivirus as well as antispyware. Free - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

I can't click on that site.

We have had Norton ever since we got the computer since it was "highly recommended" by family members and it's done good. :) We checked the price in Walmart for Norton and when hubby scanned it, it showed up as $80. So....he's gonna go to Best Buys tomorrow and pick it up for $38 instead. :)

Got a new keyboard for 10 bux! Walmart, of course. Like a laptop style....gotta get used to it! :shakeit:

Grrr.... woman, wasn't it bout a month ago I told you how to git ahold of AVG an how to blast that lousey good for nuthin norton junk off your puter??? Good night woman!

I can send you an install for AVG, er anyone here can it's free works well, if you cain't click links off this here then go to the websites an what not. Git ahold of that giant software that microsucks bought out, pretty decent malware scanner. An for cryin out loud! Go do it now! Stop all this foolin round fiddle fartin wit this er that. Seems to me if'n I recall you said your norton was expired anyways wasn't it?

disclaimer: I personally do not like norton, but not because they aren't any good etc, but because of the complexity of their software an how easy it is to royally fowl it up. Not offense to any of you die hard norton users.

Ok, have the new Norton....once I'm done online, I'm gonna get busy installing it.

Yeah, that link would not open for me.

Honey - July 9, 2006 01:19 AM (GMT)
Ugh. So, last night I installed Norton Internet Security and boy was it secure alright! I could not get into any internet pages at all today. So I've uninstalled it and well...here I am, online. What happened? :dunno: Never had this problem before.

Addicted2~Jesus - July 9, 2006 02:00 AM (GMT)
would you please stop foolin wit that norton crap???

The reason you couldn't go to any pages etc is cause the fire wall was set to high, you could turn that down an it'll work alright. The only secure puter in the world is one that is disconnected hehe

Did you at least do a scan before you uninstalled it?
