Description: yuck yuck yuck

Ladies-how and where do you get the motivation to clean house? How do you get the energy to do it? Where do you get the desire to do housework?

Men--If you do housework, where do you get the desire and motivation? How do you help your wives want to clean house?

Do the number of children under youir feet affect your ability/desire/motivation to do housework???

I am having issues here if you haven't guessed...

My desire and motivation comes from the :) versus :grump: on my wife's face. If she comes in :) , I know I've done a good job. I really don't want to see :grump: , but this afternoon I may.

The number of children under my feet while I'm trying to do stuff on the computer seriously affects my ability and desire and motivation. 'Course, my oldest is old enough to help. And I've really got to get her in gear for it!

I just do it and get it over and done with. With the kids gone during the day I....oh, maybe I shouldn't post that on a "family forum"....nevermind!

But the kids have to clean up their own crap or out comes a big, black garbage bag.... it works! :D

Latex or rubber tonight?

andiesmama - June 24, 2006 01:14 PM (GMT)
:wall: with the  pics Clay & Squat have implanted in my brain....

Now, back on-topic....I break up all the household chores throughout the week, so I don't feel swamped on one or two days. By breaking it up that way, I've only got a couple jobs each day to do....that way I don't feel so overwhelmed. AND I do them Mon-Fri, so on the weekends we can just do the family thing....

And yes, there are some days I just take the day off, but then I just double-up the next day....I dunno :dunno:, it's just part of my job so I usually just get my hiney in gear, do it, & get it over with....

Latex or rubber tonight?

Well, I appear to have developed an *ahem* sensitivity to latex - so it's out. Gotta find something new.

GET A ROOM!!!

Where's the brain bleacher?

So what does your weekly schedule look like?

Seriously??

Let's see....in a nutshell:

Monday~ wash sheets on our bed & Andie's; wash towels; clean bathrooms
Tuesday~grocery shopping day; dust
Wednesday~laundry day :laundry:
Thursday~ironing (this is also usually a playdate day, so I keep it light)
Friday~sweep & mop tile floors; vacuum bedrooms

BUT I also *almost* always make it a habit to have a clean kitchen every night before I go to bed...dishes in the dishwasher, counters cleaned off, that kinda stuff.

That 's it?!?!?!?! That's all you have to do? I am so jealous! With five people in my house I practically have to do alaundry every day, especially when the youngest two are boys and very messy, and the oldest wets the bed almost every night.

Then there are the never ending dishes, clutter in evry room, toys, animals to feed and clean, sweeping, moppiong, toilet, and sweeping again becasue Elijah can't keep his food on the table. Spills, kid messes, then dishes again oftentimes, and school for Anneliese, and all of everything over and over agian. I also have a problem with storage..We have a small house and there just isn't enough storage room in our house for everything. With five people, two bedrooms, and only two tiny closet for clothes, I get rather stressed out about finding places to put everything....It seems to get better after the kids get our of diapers, but In the past six years I haven't had any time really that I havent' had a child in diapers. Those diapers take up space and cleaning and changing takes time I would ratehr be doing something else. I so hope not to have any more kids. My house will be much nicer when they are older.....

andiesmama - June 26, 2006 12:42 PM (GMT)
yeah, String....with just the 3 of us it's manageable for me...I can't imagine 3 kids at home & trying to keep myself sane!

And laundry would definitely take me more than one day....it's an all-day job as it is, that's why it's the only thing for that day!

As for the "clutter".....I just do a little throughout the day. I don't kill myself trying to de-clutter every room all at once! If I'm walking through the living room & see some toys or whatever that don't belong there, I'll grab them & take them to the play room. OR I'll do a quick sweep in the den while Andie's eating lunch.

But I also don't want the house to look like a museum or anything...I've got a 4 year old for Pete's sake! It's gonna have that "lived-in" look no matter what I do.

And you're doing the home-school thing, that takes up a chunk of your day as well....I'm not doing THAT, so I've got a few more hours in my day than you do...it sounds like you're spread pretty thin....

I will pray for the two of you.

Housework STINKS....BUT im a stay at home mom so i do it. Hubby works LONG hours so if i want it done i do it. Sadly, i do my best cleaning when im MAD. If i get upset or stressed thats how i take it out is to clean like crazy. My house looks so wonderful after that!
:haha:
I do laundry, which i have my hubbys, mine, both kids ( they go threw clothes like theres no tomorrow) and hubbys work clothes. Blankets, sheets etc....
Then there is dishes....ohhh my goodness the dishes, we do probably 2 loads in the dishwasher a day....baby make many messes.
Then there is the tornado, my toddler no matter how clean the room is, no matter how small ammount of time he was in that room it is a compleet disaster when he leaves. So i clean everyone room probably 3 times a day.
Then theres my room, lets not get started there...LOL
The only think i dont do is clean the bathrooms, ICK!!!!!!!!
The boys use it, they pee on the tolite...THEY CLEAN IT, yes hubby cleans it....THEN ummm there dusting, vaccuming, watering the plants...this could go on for hours!!!
So in one day, if i was a maid, i would have made some major money!
:rolf:
I love my family, so thats why i do it!

When I have been fighting eith my husband I usually try to start cleaning, because I can get a lot done and it is a good stress reliever when I am angry, but he won't let me clean then. It bothers him or something, so I am stuck with all that built up anger or frustration toward him boiling inside me and he refuses to let me do what I need to do. Makes me even more resentful toward him... But what can I do? Wish I could :lena:
