Pandemonium broke out on the floor of Taiwan's parliament when a legislator snatched a proposed bill and shoved it into her mouth in a bid to stop a vote.
As members of her ruling party charged toward the central podium, lawmaker Wang Shu-hui finally spat out the document and tore it.
Several opposition members had tried to get her to cough it up by pulling her hair.

Yeah - I've seen reports of fist-fights in a lot of foreign parliaments. Like Japan - they have a lot of fights! Russia, England, Germany. :sigh: to have legislators that are truly passionate. :box: Hey - maybe I'll run for Congress! They're allowed to do anything. Look at William Jefferson. He's accused of stealing, but the FBI can't search his office 'cuz he's above the law. Yeah, I need to get into a group where the law doesn't apply to me.

There were fist fights in the English parliament? Are you talking about recently? I've never heard of anything like that

Well, England is rather tame - with catcalls and boos, etc. But they don't sugar-coat it as much as Americans. Our legislators save it for the press. In the 'hallowed halls', there is nothing but propriety.

Oh yeah, I've heard the boos before and also the cheers. I thought you were talking about fistycuffs like they show on Caught on Tape

Let's make that our first, official, word of the day!
Now, I challenge everyone reading this thread to use that word, appropriately, at least once today.
