I wouldn't even watch men's football. Can you tell me why we call it foot ball when there is very little contact with the actual foot during the whole game? Sounds kinf of stupid to me...

Originally there was a lot more kicking and the forward pass was illegal.

It's called football because it's just another example of the United States being difficult.

Every other country in the world knows football as being another sport. And it's what the U.S. calls "soccer".

Isn't there a lot more "socking" in football, and footballing in soccer?

Exactly. Isn't it stupid?

I don't even want to know what a forward pass is. I need to save the space in my brain for more relevant information...

The 'forward pass' with which I'm familiar has nothing to do with football. No, it's more along the lines of sitting on a bar stool and getting slapped by the lady next to me 'cuz my 'pass' was too 'forward'.

OK, OK. I'm trying to find out when the Houston Energy is playing. I can afford the tickets, and my daughter really wants to see women's sports. So, when I can find out more info, we're there!

I'm with String on this one. Football sucks. :boo:

LynnMcG - May 25, 2006 01:41 AM (GMT)
I love football. But I have no interest in watching women's football.

To see women running around acting like those foolish football men wseems embarrassing to me. Why would any woman want to lower herself to behaving like a big mindless oaf??

(String ducks her head and runs for cover)

 :bolt:

LynnMcG - May 25, 2006 02:08 PM (GMT)
Well, I hardly think it's fair to call an athlete mindless String. But I'm not chucking anything at you. I don't think football players can be recruited into the Pros until they've completed college. (Baseball players, however, just have to complete high school to play in the Majors.) Anyway, it's a pretty narrow stereotype to assume football players are stupid simply because of their brawn.

Plus, I'd be scared to call one of them stupid. Have you ever seen a professional football player in person? They're beyond human sized. They're....ginormous!

Stringaling - May 25, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
I am not commenting on their intellect because of size--that is a stereotype. My point is this: Is it a wise decidion to play a game that can and most likely will cause damage to the body? Is the thrill or excitement or whatever they get from the adrenaline rush worth the injuries they will most likely acquire? How many football players are known for their wisdom and intellegence off the field in non-sports related areas? It is MY OPINION that running around playing such a "game" is pointless so far as the rest of one's life and spirituality is concerned. It is a distraction that keeps the attention many(players and fans alike) diverted from reality and definately away from God. Football is stupid, and therefore, IN MY OPINION, to play it or devote hours, which add up to days in the long run,Z of one's life to watching it is not exactly a wise decision.

No offence intended all you fans out there-- I just think it is stupid..

That's what I meant about the stereo type. I wasn't even addressing the woman issue.

I'd been wondering how one would spell that word.

Byron White is in the College Football Hall of Fame and played for the Steelers and Lions.

Later in life he was a Supreme Court Justice.

A huge number of retired NFL players are now preachers.

We have an autographed football from one.

Some have gone on to careers in the business world. Some have become attorney's. Tiki Barber has authored several children's books and co-anchor's Fox News during the week. Many obviously go on to careers in broadcasting as well.

It's called exercise...

And you have more of a Chance of getting into a car crash and being permanently injuried than a football player has of being permanently injured during a game.

Of course if the Football Player gets injured, they have Millions of Dollars to Hire the Best Surgeons :amen:

Not to mention getting paid lots of money to do something you love is a pretty good career.
