Title: I Just Made My 1st Ebay Purchase
Redguard - May 15, 2006 03:23 PM (GMT)
Tenk yew... tenk yew...
I'm not an eBay virgin anymore. B)
Now, all I have to do is sell something... like this dumb printer ink cartridges that I have sitting in my desk.
andiesmama - May 15, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
what did you buy? Did you get a great deal? Do tell....
Redguard - May 15, 2006 03:50 PM (GMT)
I got an Xbox game... circa 2002 (X-Men). I've been searching around in a lot of used game stores in my area and can't find it.
I don't know if I got a "deal", but I just went ahead with the purchase. The shipping cost more than the game itself, which bothers me, lol.
But I had a gift certificate that 4Jacks had given me a few months ago, so I used it towards the purchase.

I had to search my mail for your email address this morning, and came across that ebay thing, where you said you never used ebay… so I was thinking about that this morning.. .LOL ..
And now you have an extra Dollar in your paypal account!!

Congratulations! Now you just have to be careful not to become an ebay junkie. It's so easy to do.

Aw, no longer an ebay virgin. Do you feel different?
As far as getting a deal, it does sometimes take some research to make sure you're getting one. It really irks me when the dealers sell low but make up some of the cost with overpriced shipping.

I find that I'm addicted to looking at stuff, but not actually bidding.
Mrs. Redguard wants me to look for a deal on a Calphalon knife set... or Calphalon pots, in time for when we move into the new house next year.
I want a Hattori Hanzo sword. :| -- which I'm surprised to see there are MANY. And the prices aren't bad either.
LynnMcG - May 15, 2006 05:22 PM (GMT)
I'm with you gracefaith - overpriced shipping makes me crazy.
I sell on Ebay and only charge actual shipping charges. I hate when people inflate shipping to make more money. It's like stealing!
Redguard, is an Hattori Hanzo sword really a sword?! I'm wondering what you would do with it. And I always wondered about shipping those things.

Speaking of ebay, I'm selling off a wedding gown on there right now. Anyone know anyone getting married?

LOL I find ebay is a good way to window shop my addictions until they die. I've gotten over many a weird impulse to buy stuff that way.

Yup. Real Sword. Not real, as in shipped from Japan or anything.
But it's a replica of the sword used in the movie, Kill Bill, which I enjoyed throroughly.
I wouldn't use the sword to kill anyone. It's more for collective purposes... like having a kung fu movie collection, or owning a lightsaber.
I also plan to have it handy for when "boys" start showing up at my doorstep looking for Rachel.

You're too classy. Here we just use a 12-gauge... :ar15
well - it's not a shotgun, but it's the closest I could fine. How about this one? :boom:

I always used the "My dad is a Marine" card for my own safety while dating. Then there was always they "Hey, did you know my dad was a rifle range instructor and competitive shooter in the Marine Corp?" That was always very effective.
clayman - May 17, 2006 10:55 AM (GMT)
That's all well and good, but us Dads want to let the boy know ourselves. I remember going to my high school sweetheart's house. Her dad was always standing there glaring at me with his arms crossed. He was a tall, skinny guy, but still intimidating. I didn't spend much time in there. In fact, I would go ring the bell to pick her up, and if she wasn't ready, I'd go back out and wait in the car. :shudder:
Kerense's father had passed away before I met her. I didn't have to go through that with him. From what I've heard, he was pretty scary, though. A former army drill instructor that volunteered for two extra tours in VietNam...

I know my husband was afraid of my dad. And I mean, until my dad passed away. Very intimidating guy.

 I was already married and had a baby before Louis met my dad. Guess it kinda helps to be on opposite sides of the Atlantic

One of the cool things of me now being an eBayer is that I can finally fulfill my lifelong dream of having the ultimate Shaolin Kung-Fu DVD library.
Finding them in stores is near impossible. Buying them is outrageous. But they're actually really cheap on eBay. I'm so happy. :)
clayman - May 18, 2006 08:32 PM (GMT)
Swords, Kung-fu movies... You're a really violent kinda guy, aintcha?
Redguard - May 18, 2006 08:38 PM (GMT)
No! I'm a nice guy! :)
My appreciation for kung fu movies and the ninja lifestyle is what leads to my appreciation for swords... and Chinese food... and Asian women... :|
Chain Reactions, ClayBro!
clayman - May 18, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
Uh-huh. Sure. I'm thinkin' it was YOU that went over to Lena's neighborhood and shoved those 18 bodies into a Ford Fiesta...
:ar15
