Title: I Need A Beer

LynnMcG - May 12, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
I am so on edge, it's not funny. I really want a beer.

I don't even want to explain to you guys what happened today. I just want a beer. Anyone else want to join me?

andiesmama - May 12, 2006 07:49 PM (GMT)
beer? Can I have a Pina Colada instead?? B)

LynnMcG - May 12, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
Sure, whatever you want. I so rarely drink, that it would be a shame to drink alone.

clayman - May 12, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
Clayman opens a Young's Oatmeal Stout and pours it into a pint mug. MMMMMmmmm!

LynnMcG - May 12, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
Sounds good Clay, pass one over here.

Couldn't begin to explain. Surrounded by the selfish and self-centered. And I'm damn sick of all of them.

That is EXACTLY how we do this in our neck of the woods. I've had many a beer sitting on a tailgate...running into the woods to pee when you gotta.

Thanks guys. Feeling better today. And I love the whole cyber-drinking-thing. No hangover!

I was having a couple of bad days and for some reason, my DH was upset with me for not being a bundle of sunshine when he got home from work. He apologized for being so unreasonable about my mood and that helped alot.

andiesmama - May 13, 2006 11:52 AM (GMT)
Glad you're feeling better & our "cyber party" helped out a little bit....

LynnMcG - May 13, 2006 11:21 PM (GMT)
Thank you!

When I was in the Navy, we stopped for a week in Rio de Janeiro. Big mistake. Rum & Coke was a quarter. And they served you a glass of rum and a can of coke. Some of them pansies were drinking a little out of the coke and trying to pour it from the glass into the can. Spilled it everywhere. Nah - the real way to do it was to drink some of the rum and add a little coke - for color. :)

And, in Barbados, they served "Rum Punch" that was see-through. Not much fruit, but a lot of punch! :drunk:

LynnMcG - May 16, 2006 12:43 PM (GMT)
Ah glory days strories...

Back in the day I was a straight up vodka or tequila drinker myself. :drunk:

I'm trying to remember the last time I drank...I was thinking it was a couple pitchers of mudslides with some girlfriends 6 years ago. But I think I had a glass of wine with my mom 2 years ago. I stopped drinking to avoid extra calories and then just never drank again.

gracefaith - May 16, 2006 12:55 PM (GMT)
Wait. What's this about Mr. T?

That's how they do it in Spain too. I went there with my school when I was 17 and in the hotel they would serve vodka and coke - you got a glass of vodka and a bottle of coke. Two of those and I was out, first time I'd ever gotten drunk. The ferry ride the next day was NOT a pleasant experience! :puke:

Wait. What's this about Mr. T?

ok, last year a man named Frank from our church was in the hospital in the end stages of cancer. There was a constant vigil held in his room with people praying and singing during those last couple of days. Well, the day before Frank died Mr. T was visiting the mother of his childhood friend just a couple doors down from Frank. Mr. T saw bibles and heard singing and asked if he could come in and visit.

Turns out Mr. T is a Christian (also being treated for cancer) and he spent several hours that evening singing praise music and praying with Frank and his family. Frank went home to be with the Lord that night. The next morning Mr. T came to our 9 a.m. Sunday service to be with Frank's wife Linda on that first morning without Frank to show his support.

And it wasn't a very convenient visit. He had flown in to visit his friend's mother, so he was using a limo service to get around. He came an hour to our church, (sat right in front of me) and spoke for a couple of minutes, then went another hour or so to the airport to catch his flight.

Wow. Good story.

Does he wear all those gold chains around still?

A more important question is, did he pity any fools while at your church service?

"I pity the fool that doesn't close his eyes during prayer!"

LynnMcG - May 16, 2006 10:25 PM (GMT)
No, he didn't have a lot of gold chains, just a couple. My DH and I were both thinking that he was much shorter than we'd thought. But then he wasn't all bulked up either. We just couldn't get over how nice he was. Although we were bummed that he had to leave before the service really started so he could catch his flight. We were hoping to get a picture with him!

But he was really nice, he turned around and said hello to us and shook both our hands. I kept looking at my husband saying "how cool is this! He's our BROTHER!" Heaven is really going to be a small, small world!

When I was in Hong Kong, we anchored out and had to take rented liberty boats in to the city. Victoria Harbor was extremely rough. I was sober when I caught my first liberty boat. One of the first aboard, I ran in and got a seat 'inside' (rather than standing outside on the back end). On the way in, I felt the 'urge to purge' (read: :puke: ). I stood up, pointed at the guy in front of me and said, "Move". It was like Moses parting the Red Sea. Everyone got out of my way! I got to the stern and proceeded to lose breakfast while a buddy held on to my belt so I wouldn't fall in the nasty harbor.

The next day, I rode with a hangover and didn't get sick...
