Ready photon topedoes!

I am prepared to answer questions now, should anyone happen to have any.

.
Which do like more:

1) 7/9's VERY interesting bodysuit...

2) or her manner of dealing with inferior intellects...

(I vote the former, btw)

I'm an old trekkie by heart....so pardon my new Trekkie ignorance...

3) What the heck is that thing on 7/9's eye?

4) Do you think Cpt. Kirk liked Bones or Spock better....I'm thinking Spock.

5) Why is the Vulcan pinch limited to Vulcans? If it's a just a pressure point type of grab then anyone should be able to do it, right? I guess if Vulcans shoots some kinda energy down their fingers that would be different....

6) Exactly how fast is Warp 4 ?

7) Have you ever seen a toilet in any of the Trek Series...afterall, they gotta put that stuff somewhere....

Which is your favorite Star Trek series? I'm guessing Voyager, but I thought I'd ask.
Do you mind if we ask Star Trek questions instead of personal questions?
Hmmm, maybe we should start a Trekkie trivia thread...

I know NOTHING about Star Trek (NOOOO!!! Don't beat me!) :lena:

So......share something with us that you've done that was exciting/daring/"different"....

Greetings SevenofNine.

Your posts are very... efficient.

What is your favorite body part?

Where do you see yourself 5 yrs from now?

How will you be different in a year from now (older does not count)?

How do you feel about your life right now?

What is your favorite food?

Where do you most want to go to in this world?

Who are your favorite actor and actress?

Do you remember your first kiss?

Do you have any fears and what are your plans to overcome them?

2, but I admit that it's a close race between the two.
I think what sways me toward 2 is that way she has of looking at people, which I interpret as meaning, "They'd have assimilated you, too, if you weren't such a moron."

I'm an old trekkie by heart....so pardon my new Trekkie ignorance...

3) What the heck is that thing on 7/9's eye?

That's her ocular cover plate, and it covers a port which allows access to her Borg cortical array for replacement, repair, or readjustment . Although the Emergency Medical Hologram was able to remove some 80% of her Borg implants, and render others dormant, the Borg have a nasty habit of throwing out much of their "converts'" organic brains and replacing them with technological "improvements", which the Doctor couldn't remove without either killing her or leaving her in a persistant vegetative state.

This image shows Seven with her ocular cover plate removed:

user posted image

The Doctor also replaced her Borg sight asembly with an artificial eye which matches her remaining human eye:
http://sevenofnine.cherrytaco.com/Star_Tre...ew_Eye_Gift.jpg
(sorry; for some reason, the program considers some of my images "dynamic", and some not??)

Here is the Borg central computer, her primary cortical node, which, as you can see, slides out, although, regretably, the skin covering it must be removed, and, (hopefully) replaced afterward.

user posted image

...and here's the Borg section of her cranium, with her artificial eye in place.
(Don't panic: she's all right now, folks!)

4) Do you think Cpt. Kirk liked Bones or Spock better....I'm thinking Spock.

Oh, you are so right, Squatpuke! Kirk definitely liked Spock the best!

5) Why is the Vulcan pinch limited to Vulcans? If it's a just a pressure point type of grab then anyone should be able to do it, right? I guess if Vulcans shoots some kinda energy down their fingers that would be different....

I was just wondering this myself because I was watching an episode of Voyager in which Seven appears to use the Vulcan Pinch on Mr. Tuvok, who is a Vulcan himself, and he collapsed immediately in just that gratifying manner we've come to expect. However, she got him in a shoulder pinch. Does that count as the Vulcan Pinch? I confess I can't recall where the Pinch is applied, or even which is the Pinch and which is the Death Grip.

Even if it were a matter of telepathic energy, rather than strength and technique (Mr. Paris warned Mr. Tuvok beforehand that Seven would kick his butt), why can't Romulans do any of these things?

6) Exactly how fast is Warp 4 ?

Rats! A question my role players have never asked me! Unless it's something absurdly simple, like four times the speed of light, I have no clue.

7) Have you ever seen a toilet in any of the Trek Series...afterall, they gotta put that stuff somewhere....

Although I've seen a sonic shower in action and Q suddenly appearing in Captain Janeway's bathwater with her (apparently, it's the captain's perogative to have a large tub filled with bubblebath, along with the ready room and the yacht?), I have never yet caught a single glimpse of a toilet.
However, a large cutaway poster of the Enterprise D shows at least one head in a handy location on the bridge!

Why seven of nine?

I run and play in a Trek RPG in which my primary role is Seven of Nine, so I am locked into using Seven avatars If I want to post at another board in between scenes in order to remain in character (sometimes too much so for the members of the non-RPG board)...so, sadly, no one here will ever see, for instance, my superb Mr. Bean and Norman Bates custom avatars unless I post them by special request. :sigh:

Which is your favorite Star Trek series? I'm guessing Voyager, but I thought I'd ask.

Yes, Voyager is my favorite, with Next Generation a close second.

Do you mind if we ask Star Trek questions instead of personal questions?

Not at all, Mandy! :)

Hmmm, maybe we should start a Trekkie trivia thread...

Great idea! I was planning to start one (or two or four) Trekkie threads when got here tonight, but then I found to my surprise that other members actually had asked me questions, so I thought it would behoove me to at least make a start at answering them before making any more threads.

Seven of Nine - December 4, 2005 05:55 AM (GMT)
I know NOTHING about Star Trek (NOOOO!!! Don't beat me!) :lena:

I'm sorry to hear that, andiesmama, because there'll be a pop quiz later over the Star Trek material in this thread, and I fear you will not be prepared.

So......share something with us that you've done that was exciting/daring/"different"....

hmmm....I don't purposely do much which most people would consider exciting, daring or different, but sometimes I do get sucked into situations, as though I'd inadvertantly fallen in a hole (which I did a lot when I was younger, but that's another story...)

What experience would you most like me to share with you?

1. How I came to belong to a dog pack from which I cannot resign.
2. How I wound up between the police and the protesters at far too many university Vietnam War student demonstrations.
3. How I nearly drowned in less than three feet of water.
4. The time I had a sudden, inexplicable compulsion to save the life of someone I hardly knew at the possible cost of my own. (Alternate title: I Was Scared Sober at a Dive Bar)
5. My near death experience due to routine dental surgery. (Danger will Robinson Danger I can't recommend this one if any member here plans to have his or her wisdom teeth out. Seriously.)

The Vulcan Nerve Pinch was invented because in one episode Roddenberry had Spock knocking out a bad guy. Nimoy complained that violence would not be in line with Spock's character and suggested the nerve pinch.

As you know Vulcans are much stronger than Humans, and it's the incredible strength in the fingers that makes the nerve pinch work. There's one episode (or was that a movie?) when someone else tries it (I think it's Chekov) and fails miserably.

Also, from my understanding, Warp Factor is a logarithmic scale. Warp 1 = speed of light. Warp 2=Warp 1*10. Warp 3=Warp 2*10. And so on. So Warp 4 would be 1000 times the speed of light. That would explain how they can cross the galaxy in a matter of minutes (or days).

Gee, you too? I had demerol for my wisdom teeth, and woke up in another room, my OP shirt cut open for the EKG and an oxygen mask on my face. The orthodontist was yelling, "You're working yourself into a tizzy!"

I also remember them coming in with a wheelchair when they decided I was ok to go home. I said, "I don't need that," and stood up. Then they had to pick me up off the floor...

I still have my wisdom teeth, 22 years later.

Really?! I have never before met anyone else who came close to dying while having their wisdom teeth out!
I'll bet there's even more to your story; it's mighty hard to work oneself into a "tizzy" with all that Demoral on board. Should we start a thread? lol

My wisdom teeth were sucessfully removed! Three once, and one twice: once from my mouth and once from my lung. :thanks:

Thank you!
That explains how Seven could use it on a Vulcan, then, and her timely use of it showed Borg efficiency, acieved a turn-the- tables twist, spared Mr. Tuvok from using ordinary and inelegant acts of violence against her, as well as establishing that she was unwilling to harm him, and he her. Mr. Nimoy was obviously quite right, I think, and that story makes me wonder if he's a Method actor.

All right! I now comprehend Warp Factor, and without wading through one-to-three Star Trek sites. I hope you won't live to regret so readily answering two questions in one post likely to come up in my RPG because I get too tired to do my research the hard way.

Seven of Nine - December 4, 2005 07:41 AM (GMT)
Who inspires you?

Fictional characters have been a great source of inspiration to me from childhood on: Frodo and Sam from The Lord of the Rings, Seven of Nine and Data from Star Trek, the women pilots of Starship Troopers (the book, not the film), Nick from The Stand, etc.

What is your favorite body part?

My own, or someone else's, mdolls?
*ahem* Let's go with my own, shall we?
I've never thought about it before, but my favorite body part is definitely my left hand.

Where do you see yourself 5 yrs from now?

Pretty much where I am rght now, God willing and the creek don't rise.

How will you be different in a year from now (older does not count)?

My health may continue to deteriorate, but, otherwise, it seems to me that the more I change the more I remain the same, just more content to be who I am, and possibly a bit wiser, although I find that difficult to evaluate in myself.

How do you feel about your life right now?

I have mixed emotions, because a chronic health condition I have does appear to be getting steadily worse, and is starting to cut the time I can spend at my computer, and to paraphrase Q, my internet life is as real as my so-called life gets.
http://sevenofnine.cherrytaco.com/Star_Tre...es/Q/asreal.mp3

What is your favorite food?

eek, I have so many; I'm the daughter of a fine restauranteur.
Even though I don't eat it as often as I would like because I don't shop for myself, I would hate to live in a world without chocolate.

Where do you most want to go to in this world?

I want to go absolutely everywhere in this world, and I'd also like a seat on a space shuttle.

Who are your favorite actor and actress?

I owe so much pleasure to actors and actresses that I'm not sure I have a single favorite in either catagory. Where actresses are concerned, I've had to very much focus on Jeri Ryan, so it's my good luck that I consider her an exemplary actress (and a nice, unassuming person in real life, as well), but a favorite of mine from childhood is Mareen O'Hara, and I admore and enjoy the performances of many who run the gamut in between: Julie Andrews, Sigourney Weaver, Sandra Bullock, Kathy Bates and a less well-known actress whose mother married my brother after I became a huge fan of hers, Stacy Nelkin.

Actors? A lot of my favorites are deceased. But of the living ones, some of my favorites are Christopher Lee and Sean Connery (from childhood on), Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart (these are from my Hot Old Guy list), Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, and Brad Douriff.

Do you remember your first kiss?

I sure do! Stanley, my very first boyfriend, was a wet kisser, so it was a memorable experience.

Do you have any fears and what are your plans to overcome them?

As may be evident by now, my greatest fears are all health (and, therefore, also income related), and there are no more plans I know to make, except to have the best attitude I can, and to do my best to keep on truckin', no matter what happens.
My father was confined to a nursing home very much against his will, and one day, when we were speaking of this, he concluded the subject by saying,
"Well, Honey, it's my own decision whether I'm happy or not."
I agree with him, mdolls.

hopper - December 4, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
Um... let's see... torpedies (?)...

How do you feel about frogs, snails, frogs who pose as snails, cyber pets, and grits? And have you found them to be particularly explosive?

E-beth - December 5, 2005 01:55 AM (GMT)
I don't really know from Star Trek, sorry. I did like that movie where they saved the whales, though.

What do you like to eat for Breakfast?

What are your pet peeves?

What is your favorite type of clothing?

Which person, living or dead, would you most like to have dinner with?

What is on your nightstand?

Honey - December 5, 2005 03:14 AM (GMT)
What kind of music do you like?

Thanks 7O9 for answering my questions.

The body part question can be answered any way you want and you did.

I felt sad as I read some of the answers to your questions, especially the health ones. I hope I can encourage you in this area. I don't have time to go into all this, but God has allowed me to go through some stuff, and I'm learning. He is using these things to further refine my walk with him as well as teach me so much.

As for the income thing, I pray that over the next year, God will do mighty things here as I step out in faith. May this help inspire you so this no longer becomes a concern to you.

Are you involved with your church? (Besides sitting in the pew.) What do you do?

Redguard - December 6, 2005 07:07 PM (GMT)

What song is running through your head right now?
