Nichole rode her bike around the block with her mother Tuesday night! She'd been terrified to get on it, but we had an incident Sunday night where she wanted to try but got scared and tried to quit. Kerense wouldn't let her quit, and I gave her a loud, rousing pep talk that I later learned scared her more than encouraged here...
Anyway, I gave her goals. Monday, go this far. Tuesday, go a bit further. By Friday, she had to make the stop sign. From that point, I don't care if you ever ride the bike again, but you're not gonna quit. It was more the principle of the thing - quitting rather than the bike itself.
Friday (tomorrow) was her deadline. Tuesday she passed her goal by going around the block. We were all so happy - Nichole and Mommy were crying.
I thank God for my kids. I can watch them change, and I can watch them grow up - with mixed feelings. Ain't it great?
awww....that's so cool! :amen:
plucks a little bit at the heartstrings to see the kids grow up, huh?
How cool! Kat wants a bike but we've got nowhere for her to ride it so we've held off on getting her one.
Congrats to Nichole! B)
Now...HOW do you get them ON the bike? Candace won't do. Luke zips around all over, Isaiah's almost got the hang of it. Candace will sit on a trike, but not a bigger bike with training wheels....
Nichole saw neighbor kids doing it four years ago and wanted a piece o' that action. She grew up so fast, though, that she was way to big for a bike with training wheels. That's why it took so long.
