Title: Worried About Coal In Her Stocking
LynnMcG - December 2, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
Last night, my daughter got a little quiet as I was tucking her into bed. I asked her what was wrong. She asked me, if she was bad and she got coal in her stocking, would that be all she got for Christmas? She said she was worried because if she was bad, and she got coal for Christmas, then this would be the first time...and then she started bawling her big blue eyes out. It was all I could do, not to giggle. I assured her that she was a good person. That the little bitty, not-so-good things she does now are pretty typical for a kid her age. Not that we appreciate or approve of these not-so-good things, but we understand.
Well, it took me about 10 minutes to calm her down and reassure her, that Santa would be bringing her toys for Christmas this year.

One way to kill that fear quickly is to give her lots of toys and put a charcoal briquet (wrapped in plastic so it doesn't stain anything) in her stocking. That way she'll see even if she does get coal she'll at least get something else. B)
Too many Christmas movies? What about Charlie Brown's rock at Halloween? (Don't read too much into this halloween thing, please!)

Lynn! What have you been doing to her! Scaring her like that! :hehe:
Kidding;)
Our kids haven't had any "concerns" just yet. They seem to think Santa is very forgiving....hmmm.

She must be feeling better about the whole coal thing today. I just overheard her threatening her little brother with coal in his stocking.
:haha:

I'm sorry she started crying, but I think that this is SO funny.

Believe me, it was all I could do NOT to laugh at her. She was SO serious. And SO upset. I cannot wait to tell her this story when she stops believing in Santa!!

I think I would take advantage of the situation and convert my furnace from gas to coal.
Matts sure to get tons this year. :rolf:

We will all have stories like these.
I think the cuteness factor is what really makes it funny.
