Title: Easter Baskets

Do you guys do them for your kids? Is it something you give them on Easter, or is it from the Easter bunny?

If you do give baskets, what do you usually put in them?

Do you hide it? Do you hide eggs?

What kind of traditions do you guys have?

We have the "Easter Bunny" hide their baskets. ;) We're getting our kids already made baskets. Luke wants a soccer ball basket, Candace wants the orange & pink ball basket and Isaiah wants the Madagascar basket. Me, I want the Precious Moments basket. B)

Easter Sunday morning if the weather is right, we hide them outside among the trees, bushes or wherever the Easter Bunny can think of.

we do a basket with candy and eggs - but we're starting to have doubts. The rabbit and eggs have a pagan fertility bakground. Yeah, we've turned it into cutesy kid things and that's why we haven't come down completely and condemned it. We're praying about it and researching it.

Now, traditionally, we give baskets with plastic eggs filled with candy. There used to be a small gift, but hard times in recent years have prevented that. Nichole doesn't remember it (or she doesn't complain if she does remember), and it stopped before Kristen was born.

Ideally with no reservations as stated above, we would have a basket full of 'Robins Eggs' malted milk. And I'd eat my weight in them.

I ate two cartons of them in an afternoon in 1998 - got sick.

Andie's basket has a chocolate cross (thinking about it, somehow seems WRONG to eat a cross....oh well... B) ), some mini-m&ms, then fun stuff like a bunny puzzle, bubble bath, flower pens & a little notepad...I'm going to also get her a cross to hang on the chain she wears around her neck.

I got plastic eggs that I filled with candy & some money, we'll hide those along with her basket. She also leaves out a carrot & something to drink for the Easter Bunny the night before....

Then we'll head over to my in-laws for a family get-together, brunch & more baskets & looking for eggs....

Oh yeah! Forgot about the parents! My parents dish out some candies usually along with a small gift. (Not too much candy because mom is such a health nut. ) They're opposite of the in-laws. In-laws dish out LOADS of junk food that we have to hide it from the kids as soon as we get home....seriously. It's BAD. They hide stuff outdoors, too. One Easter my parents bought the kids all kites. They were thrilled for hours running along in the neighbour's open fields.

We don't do the Easter Bunny thing.

We do hide eggs, but the kids know it's us. We have one basket, with a large chocolate something (cross, bunny, dinosaur egg, dump truck, etc) for each kid then toys, kisses, chocolate eggs, etc. for Mommy & Daddy!

Each child gets a toy or bike. We're very clear about the significance of the day, so that like Christmas, no one gets carried away with the candy and toys and forgets that we're celebrating the resurection of our Savior.
