Title: Sound Problem
Honey - March 18, 2006 07:11 PM (GMT)
Ok, my sound hasn't worked on my computer for quite some time now. IIRC, it happened when I went to delete a program and accidentally deleted the SoundMax. Since then, no sound.
Any techies willing to help me get my sound back? Ask what you need to know and I'll TRY to answer correctly.

What OS, what sound card? What make of pc, ie. dell, hp etc.
Have you tried reinstallin sound max?
Have you checked your volume? Not at the speakers but windows, if you've got an lil speaker lookin deal on your task bar. I know it's a silly question but some folks forgit it.
Made sure your speakers are plugged in an powered etc?
Sometimes it's easier if'n you tell us what you have done hehe so we won't ask you to do it agin.

I have Windows XP. I've checked the volume which shows up blank and cannot adjust it. I've checked the hardware and devices which say they are working properly. Uh yeah....really...
The error I get when I try to play anything in Windows Media Player is:
SoundMAX Wavetable Synth Error
Unable to find or execute SynthCore11.EXE program!
And I get.....
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.
As for reinstalling SoundMAX...ugh. I can't find the flippin' disk! :wall:

This error message may occur if SynthCore, a third-party sound renderer, is installed on your computer. To resolve this issue, remove SynthCore. To do this, follow these steps. 1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. 3. Click SynthCore, and then click Change/Remove. NOTE: If SynthCore is not in the list of currently installed programs, click SoundMAX. 4. When you are prompted to confirm the removal of the program, click OK. 5. Restart your computer.
Found the above with Google...worth a try.
What default device is showing in your Control Panel|Sounds and Audio Devices|Audio Tab ????

Sounds like you just need to reinstall your soundcard's drivers...
If you don't have the disks, then you should be able to get them off the net...
Did you mention you had a Dell?
If so, then just call them and tell them what is happening and what you expect is the problem...(drivers).
They should be able to lookup your customer code and direct you RIGHT to the page with the correct drivers....
Good Luck Ms. Lena....if the CSR gives you any slack...you know what to do....

Yeah, I asked a bit back which system manufacture you had, cause I found 'some' software for it but couldn't git it from soundmax, havta git it from a board manufacture an need to know what board you have. Goin to look through a few board disks I have here an see if I can find sumthin that'll work for you. Have you tried some lil stuff like in the device manager tellin the thin to check windows update for the software for the thin? You tried jes removin it from your device list an lettin winders plug an play the thin?
Honey - March 21, 2006 05:22 PM (GMT)
The system manufacturer is MDG.
http://www.mdg.caI checked the volume control and got this message:
There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware, then click add hardware.
So, the device manager says all's well and there's no sign of trouble elsewhere. I've sent an email to MDG and am waiting for a response from them.
