Title: Ask Dick Anything.....
Description: Round 2.....

rasplundjr - March 15, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
Figured I'd throw out a round two... Round one has been resting nicely in piece.....

Ask anything ya want... Can't garuntee you'll like the answer... or even understand the answer as I am prone to ramble... and I once found a way to work sea monkeys into a an answer to my 9th grade Algebra Teacher about solving an equation.... Heck I can't garuntee I'll like the answer.. unless it invloves polar bears... polar bears are cool... pun intended....

So....how exactly DID you get on this polar bear kick?

And would you ever want to meet one in person? B)

Some kids grow up liking certain anmials... My friend Max loves Rhinos.... His Exwife, and one of my nephews have a thing for Penguins... Me it's Polar Bears (well bears in general but especially polar bears) and Wolves.....

Plus Polar bears are just beautiful if somewhat frightening to watch in action.... The have a grace that belies their sheer mass....

I'd love to meet one in person... provided If I were int he wild I had a tranq gun so I could actually survive the encounter.... or there was a sheet of glass between us....

I've seen them int he zoo, and I was content with the distance between us....

If I see one in person I'd love to be able to hold a cub.... but I'd hate to face the mama for that experience....

Well my name lets me get away with certain behaviour and a way to lower tempers when it starts to get people angry....

"You're a jerk...."
"Well my parent's named me Dick..."

Usually they look at me start laughing and then I nettle them some more....

Hey I was the baby brother... I'm good at nettling....

That would be my real imitation Viking Helmet...
Metal helmet Plastic horns... decent high quality costume piece.....

I'm part Swedish (My dad's real father was from Stockholm fresh off the boat...) and I celebrate my Viking heritage (almost as much as my Irish).....

I used to wear it to work to break the tension.... On weird hat day I really gotta stretch because I have the viking helmet hanging in my cube and I'm not allowed to use that one because I wear it around the office some days....

I set that picture up to be taken..... It's also my Picture in my desk directory....

You should see the people pop up from their cubes like groundhogs looking for their shadow when I come int he office wearing it.....

I'm the senior technician on the legal helpdesk for SEI CCS LLC. I'm a computer helpdesk geek. I work for a company that is an outsource helpdesk (well my division). The legal firm we work with is pulling the contract, and most of my fellow legal desk techs are being let go.... I get to stay and go to the larger client we support out of my facility.

I ended up working in computers because of my best friend... He was the NEtwork admin of the last company I worked for... He and I got into computers at the same age and learned most of what we knew side by side (we've been best friends for 20 years now), he needed a competant tech, and knew I wanted out of the factory... HE got me an interview I started working with him.... we both got downsized at the same time because we made too much.. they laid us off and their network went in the tank because the two people that kept it running in the great shape it was no longer worked there.... That was a Friday, the following monday we were running around putting in Resumes... I mentioned a service he used to work for jokingly because they were complete tools and were no longer at the facility that used to, they might not even exist anymore.... He mentioned that SEI (the company I work for now) was there now, we went in figuring what the hey...
Tuesday I got a call for a Phone interview Wednesday, Wednesday after the phne interview they wanted a face to face on Friday, Friday they said I might get a call by end of day... 20 to 5 I got a call with a job offer starting the following Monday.

I enjoy working with computer... I enjoy some of the Clients, many of the clients are more rude than they need to be, and that frustrates me... I'm the kind of guy you get in my face I get back in yours.... That damned Irish Temper and Swedish bravado.... and German urge to take over the world.. not a good combo....

I love helpdesk, I love helping people, I love showing off my brains, I just have this thing about people annoying the hell out of me.... Not all people just stupid ones.. and unfortunatly thats who I deal with on a daily basis.. I can forgive ignorance (not knowing something) but stupidity should be a sterilizing offense... (Knowing something being told about it shown and taught repeatedly and doing the wrong thing anyway or just for spite)........
