I'm a huge fan of Veggie Tales, anyone else? I like em more for mysef then I do for Kat, would probly by em to watch even if I didn't have kids hehe But I'm easily amused er entertained anyways.

The only prob I see developin is like one of em, The search for Sampsons hair brush. I haven't seen it yet but Kat was tellin me all bout it the other day an went on an on bout it, she had the actual story pretty much spot on as recorded in the bible but what got me was she was sayin that Sampson's power came from the hair brush. I understand why the story goes the way it does but I'm afraid Kat is growin up thinkin its all bout a hair brush ya know? I had Sarah read the real story to er that night, jes not real sure how to go bout teachin er that Veggie Tales is a fine story, but also not exactly true. Any ideas?

Yeah - we had the same problem with Samson's Hairbrush. At the end of the program, we learn that Samson's power did not come from the Hairbrush, but from the Power of God that was in Samson. You have to pay attention through the whole show, and kids just don't do that.

I like Veggie Tales. I  when I watch them. But they are vignettes - they tell a little of the story.

I think they got bought out by someone - Zondervan? Focus on the Family? - and since then they have gotten a little harder for the kids to get.

I love Veggie Takes, but my kids don't. (Madame Blueberry is my favorite) I can see what you mean by misunderstanding the story though. I always thought Veggie Tales were a good way to start explaining bible stories to kids. It's like with a kids bible, even though these don't actually get the stories wrong like Veggie Tales can, it's only a little bit of information. As they get older you need to kick it up a notch and give them more details as they can handle it. Make sense?

What about another Big Idea production - 3-2-1 Penguins?

I am so busy laughing I miss the next joke. Nichole doesn't get the jokes, so she gets the story.

As far as I can tell, there were only five ever produced, but they are great!

Veggie Tales are ok... my wife likes them a lot.

Funny this thread should show up now... I read Rachel one of her Veggie Tales books before bed last night. I did all the voices and accents of all the different characters and everything.

"Wee are zee french grapes!"

I like Veggie Tales, I think Andie can take 'em or leave 'em...altho once in awhile she'll dig out one of the movies we've got to watch.

When she was going through a stage of being scared of the dark, I found a Veggie Tales book called "God Is Bigger"....basically a narration/book of their song by the same name.....do you guys know it?

"God is bigger than the boogeyman
He's bigger than Godzilla or the monster on tv
Oh God is bigger than the boogeyman and
He's watchin' out for you & me"

That, she LOVES and requests it once a week or so.....

You were lying in your bed
You were feeling kind of sleepy
But you couldn't close your eyes
Because the room was getting creepy

Were those eyeballs in your closet?
Was that Godzilla down the hall?
There was something big and hairy
Casting shadows on the wall.

Now your heart is beating like a drum,
Your skin is getting clammy.
There's a hundred tiny monsters
Jumping right into your jammies!

What are you gonna do?

I'm going to call the police!

No, you don't need to do anything!

I don't? Why not?

Because -

God is bigger than the boogeyman...

andiesmama - February 23, 2006 05:48 PM (GMT)
:haha:

Andie likes the "jumping into your jammies" part ("boing" "boing" "boing")

My favorite is Mr. Nezzer - 'cuz I can do his voice. But my favorite song is "Love Songs with Mr. Lunt - The Cheeseburger Song".

I don't know if any of you are familiar with this song, but the lyrics remind me so much of me and Kerense. She's my cheeseburger.

See, I knew I loved Kerense, but she was dating someone else. So, I needed to find breakfast at Denny's. And I found a lady in Austin who was willing to satisfy my physical needs. Well, then Kerense broke up with her boyfriend, so I broke up with the lady in Austin. And I had my cheeseburger.

TMI?

 We love the cheeseburger song!

He said to her, “I’d like a cheese burger...
and I might like a milk shake as well.”
She said to him, “I can’t give you either.” And he said, “Isn’t this Burger Bell?”
She said, “Yes it is, but were closed now.
but we open tomorrow at 10”
He said, “I am extremely hungry,
but I guess I can wait until then.”

‘Cause you're His cheeseburger
His yummy cheeseburger
He’ll wait for you, yeah,
He’ll wait for you,
Oh, you are his cheeseburger
His tasty cheeseburger
He’ll wait for you.
Oh, he will wait for you.

He stayed at the drive-thru till sunrise.
He may have dozed off once or twice.
When he spotted a billboard for Denny’s--
"Bacon and Eggs for half price!"
How could he resist such and offer?
He really needed something to munch.
Cheeseburger please do not get angry.
He’ll eat and be back here for lunch!

‘Cause you're His cheeseburger
His precious cheeseburger
Be back for you.
He’ll be back for you.
Won't be so long cheeseburger!
Oh, lovely cheeseburger!
Be back for you.
Oh, He’ll be back for you.

‘Cause he loves you cheeseburger with all his heart!
And there ain`t nothin` gonna tear you two-oo apart!
And if the world suddenly ran out of cheese,
He would get down on his hands and knees
to see if someone accidentally dropped some cheese in the dirt!
And he would wash it off for you!
Wipe it off for you
Clean that dirty cheese off just for you...

You are His cheeseburger!

I only care for The Queen Esther video. Those peas are whacko! :haha:

clayman - February 23, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
You see the similarities? When I first heard it, I cracked up! I mean, it was such a parallel to us! Kerense was the cheeseburger, Austin-Lady was the bacon and eggs for half price.

:haha:

Kerense doesn't see the humor - doesn't like being compared to a cheeseburger.
:nono:

Well I don't know that there's anythin wrong wit the hair brush one I hadn't seen it, all I know bout it comes from a 4 year old. But I imagine its jes like any of the others, in the battle of Jerico one, the peas were throwin slushes, an the "Isralites" wanted to fire up the wallminator. So there all off a bit, the perpeutal land of ticklin in the Ester one, an the bunny song in the shadrack etc story.

I love the veggie tales! Always have! Even before we had kids I would use them in my Youth Ministry.

3-2-1 Penguins are sooo funny!
