Title: Hair
Description: How can I encourage it to grow more?

My hair grow so slowly--And it is on the thinner/finer side. The only time it was even somewhat thick was when I was pregnant. It grows soooooo slooooooooooww. I never really let it grow long, just a few inches past my shoulders, becasue it seems to get there and stay stagnant. It seems just not to grow much past that length. I am thinking that maybe that is as long as it will grow. I usually end up cutting a couple of inches off because it really needs it and is looking pretty icky towards the ends. Do you think I am just a med. length hair breed or is there anything I can do to ake it grow longer. I'd like to try becasue it has neverr been really long at all. Even at the age of five when I got my first hair cut it was barely shoulder length- :o

What do you use on it?
My hair wouldn't grow much past my shoulders until I stopped using shampoo on it...it was just too fine for that, and was breaking off.

Really? What do you clean it with now? Over the years I have tried several different shampoos and conditionders..

The quickest, easiest thing to use is an egg. It's slimy, but it'll get your hair clean without damaging it. It's what I use most often.
Yucca root, which you can find in the produce section of a grocery store, produces a mild soap when put in water...that works well too, but you need to use a conditioner with it.
Diluted baby shampoo is good...so are most conditioners (almost all of them have mild cleansers in them, but they also usually have perfumes that irritate my scalp, so not so good).

I just dug up and destroyed a yucca plant from my back yard when we moved to this house-They're ugly and I hated it. Had I only known  I have used an egg on my hair once and it did make it very soft. I'll try it--maybe once a week--tosee if it helps my sad little hair..

I was going to say you could get pregnant! Hair grows faster and gets thicker. Lol. But I know thats not what you want.... so I wonder if there are any vitamins that encourage hair growth like there are for the nails.... hmmm

I've used hair and nail vitamins in the past, they work. Also, Fructise makes that longer, stronger shampoo that helps prevent breakage when you shampoo.

What texture is your hair? Curly? Wavy? Straight? I'm not sure the non-shampoo method works for straight hair. I know when I read Curly Girls they even said it was probably necessary to shampoo wavey hair a couple times a week.

Also, a great deal of hair growth really has to do with what's going into your body. Drink plenty of water, take your vitamins, and eat well.

Try a couple times a year  Like if I've been babysitting and got jam in my hair or something. If I shampooed my hair twice a week, I'd lose a lot of hair and would have a very painful upset scalp.
Some people's scalps need special treatment, so the needs of the scalp and the hair need to be balanced. That is the only reason I can think of for shampooing though, provided that rosemary oil hasn't cleared up whatever problem there might be.

My hair is wavy--I usually shampoo two to three tmes a week. it is so dry that I don't dare wash it more--it'd dry up and fall off my head. I probably do need to be more consistant with the vitamins..

Do you have straight hair or wavy then? I am a bit confused.

I have straight hair and I wash it everyday.... except on days i don't take showers, maybe once-twice a week...

It could also be related to your diet, if it does not have a wide enough variety of vitamins/minerals. I would just go to the store and look at all the bottles until you foudn one that claimed to help this problem.

Me? That's a confusing question...
When I was using shampoo on it, it was stick straight. When I started taking better care of it, it got wavy. I recently chopped my hair very short to get rid of dye, and now a good chunk of my hair is trying to go curly.
