Starting on the tan early.....dig out the Solarcaine.... B)

We need a laying-out-in-the-sun & getting-a-tan smilie....

ceres - February 21, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
The Season.... its like 30 degrees here....

ya, I know it...I keep the sun off my face pretty much, and don't "intentionally" go out & lay in the sun, I just get that "healthy glow" from simply being outside all the time....LOOOOVE it.... :shakeit:

I know it....today we're going to a park for a playdate that ALSO has a water fountain section, where the kids can play in the sprinklers & stuff....hopefully it'll warm up enough by that time....I'll have to put a t-shirt on Andie because she got a little pink at the beach this weekend.... B)

Girl, you sicken me! Talking about tans and sunburns! Here, have a SNOWBALL to chill you out! :gotcha:

Oh and coconut oil is EXCELLENT for the skin. I used it has a sunscreen last summer and rarely burned. Just tanned.

But you don't get REAL sun up there. It's so much more intense down here in the lower latitudes. That's why we have summer year-round (except for right now when I can't get it above 58 in the house)!

And, my little one just knocked the printer off its stand. Again. I don't think it'll survive this one. :(

She's up in Panama City, tho, right? That's up in the panhandle, northern FL....but it's still not "cold"....low to mid 50s at night here and today it's sunny & high 70s, low 80s by this afternoon....the water is probably REAALLLY cold, tho....

Yeah, that's where she is.

My cousin went there last year and he said that it was terrible there. But it's a cheap vacation that they like to offer to the students up here.

I got separate testimonies from both my sister and my cousin. Both of them said the exact same thing as their first initial reactions.

"The people here are really.... round"

lol

andiesmama - February 21, 2006 05:49 PM (GMT)
"round" :rolf:

Yep...Panama City is a huge spring break town....they should come south (like Ft. Myers or Naples, by me) if they want to get away from the crowds & kids...little more expensive but ALOT prettier & warmer....

I'm not biased or anything.... B)

Stringaling - February 21, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
Myhusband works with a woman who was complaining about her heating bill. He asked her what temp she kept it in her house. Her response started with "well, I'm black---I keep it about 80." There has to be a racial thing when it comes to tolerating temperatures. You know darker races originated in hotter cimates while paler people come from cooler areas. From what I gather, in general, black people don't like the cold and whiteys don't like the heat....

andiesmama - February 21, 2006 05:54 PM (GMT)
I'm the exception to the rule....because I DESPISED the snow & cold when I lived in Michigan & Kentucky....I am SO happy we live where we do now....even when it gets down in the 30s & 40s here, I'm miserable!!

I've turned into a wuss....

I am on the wuss boat with you--But I am soooo much better to tolerate the cold than the hot. When it gets to be mid-July--I am dyin'! I get sick physically if its too hot. The heat is soo oppressive. Yuck!

Maybe your ancestors came from a area similar to FL..that might be why you're more comfy there...

Me--give me cloudy days and mid range temperatures......Ahhh--I need to go to Ireland.....

I think your husband's coworker was just giving a dumb/ignorant statement.

And as for "white folks", I'm sure it's a matter of individual preference.

You can find white folks enjoying the snowy mountains, but at the same time, when you're in the Caribbean, they're covering every inch of sand on the beach.... baking themselves into a cancerous redness... I just don't understand it sometimes. :dunno:

We have had cabin fever for months, i would gladly move south if the right opportunity arose. But here at least we have our family and don't have to travel for holidays anymore. I can't wait for it to get warm because David has sooooo much energy and if he doesn't run it off, he drives me crazy! We're going to the little indoor park at the mall later, but thats a 45 minute drive. :wall:

If I could afford it, I'd keep my heat at 80 degrees. Lord knows I did when I had free water heat. Now its about 74 and I try to keep it at the lowest temperature I can stand. Its 74 and I am wearing a sweatshirt and pants and socks and my hands are freezing.

I like heat.....

From my experience, white folks ain't never happy. And I am one!

We left the windows open all day in an effort to cool down our house a week ago when it nearly hit 80F. That evening, when it got down to about 30F (-1C?), we had to turn on the heat. We're never happy!

Probably baking themselves into a cancerous redness. That's stupid. I know. I used to do it. Mostly 'cuz I was drunk...

I used to pass out on the beach when I lived in Corpus. In fact, I lived in a tent on the beach for nearly a year. Rent-free, no electricity, no worries - except where my next beer was coming from. More than one morning I woke up with sand in my mouth and red on my back.

Yeah, I guess so. Delivered pizza for a living.

Man, that was the life. Always hungry, always drunk, angry at the system that was keeping me down -- you know, stoopid. It took me about a year to wise up and figure out that there was a lot more to life than being mad. I guess that's a story in itself, right?

Anyway, back on the sunburn track - every time I get a mole, I get paranoid.

Interesting!

I don't have any moles, but I do have freckles.... they get darker when I am in the sun.... I think they are only moles if they are "raised" right? Mine are all flat.

yeah. Moles are 3-d. I've had a few removed and biopsied. All turned out negative. Painful but negative. No melanoma to this point, thank God!
