Title: Budgeting Software?
andiesmama - February 10, 2006 12:49 PM (GMT)
Does anyone use it? I don't....my household "budget" is in my head... But I've been thinking about getting Quicken or doesn't MSN have one? MSN Money or something like that?
Just wondering if anyone's had any experience or any suggestions with other software....

I couldn't live w/o Quicken to pay bills and keep track of our spending...
I only have Q2001 and it sucks at ACTUAL budgeting....don't know if newer version would help in that area or not...
What is nice, is that you can catagorize your spending and then do monthly/yearly reports on those catagories...ie, groceries, gas, dog food, etc.
I also have MSMoney...(you might too if you own a Dell or MSWorks)...but have never used it....

I also use Quicken. I don't know what I did without it. It was a HUGE help when I was doing my taxes this year. No calculating paper receipts - everything was categorized and ready for me. My mom got a newer version of Microsoft Money, but I didn't like it...probably because I'm just used to Quicken. But I think it's just easier than Money.
I also keep a household budget on an Excel spreadsheet.

What Quicken do you guys have? There's like a bazillion levels....not really, but basic, premier, home&office, etc....

Mine is Quicken 2000. It came with my 'puter. I never bothered upgrading it, because it works for us. It keeps track of banking, credit cards, budgeting, and more.

We just created our own Excel spreadsheet to do it. I haven't found a software that I like.
