Title: Christmas Presents For The Kids

Just curious to see how you guys shop for the kids. Is it budgetary (like we only spend $x on each child) or by the number of gifts.
And have you finished shopping for the kids yet?

Monetary....I have an idea of how much I can spend & just go from there....and no, I'm not done shopping for her yet, I've actually only got two things....2 DVDs she wants. Still need to get a couple more from us plus her Santa gift....oh, and some stocking stuffers.
Better get busy.... :swoosh:

We have a limited budget anyway. One way we get around it is a Toys 'R' Us Visa card that gets us points. It's paid off every month, so 1% of our groceries goes to Christmas shopping. That gets us started. Then we have a little more to spend.
While the kids are young and not looking at the size or value of their toys, we try to make sure we have a 1:1 present ratio, and a couple of presents for both.
To be honest, between my wife and I there's not much. But I may get my Hickory Farms Beef Stick!
Yes, we're done!

Ooooooo...this used to be a big issue in my house. My wife grew up that each kid have to have the EXACT same number of gifts. No matter if one kids gift were worth more $.
I grew up that it was the $ amount that counted.
It took a bit of time - but I won this one (and it's about time).
We go by $ amount.

I've finished my Christmas shopping for Katheryn and probably spent way more than planned! I'm too chicken to look at the receipts to know how much exactly :yikes: But I got some stuff at 50% off so I just couldn't resist!

In the past we've always gone overboard. This year, going over board probably isn't an option. And that's not a bad thing either. I remember thinking last year, that we could have gotten away with maybe two gifts for Sarah. Those were the only things that really got her attention.
Anyway, I think they're each getting 6 toys. One board game each, and 5 toys each. Sean won't really care since he'll just be looking for the next box to play with. Sarah is usually really grateful for whatever she gets. PLUS, I know the rest of the family is going to go totally overboard because they feel bad. :nono: Which is a whole nother story.
