In the past year, what kind of swimsuit have you worn in public?

Bikini, tankini, one-piece, bikini bottom only (topless beach), none (nude beach), or haven't worn a swimsuit in public?

I haven't worn a suit in public in years. Infact hubby and I were discussing the other day that in our 4.5 years of marriage we've never seen the other swim :lol:

One piece, thankyouverymuch. I don't care to expose my flab if I don't hafto! IMO nude beaches = :puke:

Tankini for me, the whole one time I wore it last year while on vacation.

A tankini is the one with a tank top and shorts, right? That's my favorite looks-wise. I burn really easily and really severely though, and I have a super-modest one that helps prevent that (knee-length skirt and cap sleeves...it doesn't look as bad as it sounds!). Unfortunately it is a struggle to get my husband not to throw a fit about a modest suit, and I hate sunburns, so generally I just don't swim.

I've got a one piece and a tankini as well.....and unless I'm in the water, I wear a sarong-thingie around my waist, goes down to about mid-calf....

Same here.. Although I think we snuck into the pool at our apartment one night after we were first married. That was my last swim...After having kids I am afraid to buy one. I got stretch marks so bad on my stomach--There is literally no area on my stomach that isn't marred ny stretch mark.. I mean literally. It was stretched so bad that the skin sags and hangs loose. Hideous! The only thing that can fix it now would be a tummy tuck to remove the loose skin.... :(

Tankini with boy shorts. I'm believing that I won't be able to wear last summer's suit this year though. I'm thinking I'll be needing a much smaller size by then!

If we are just in the backyard with Cara, I will wear a bikini. My husband likes it, so I do it for him then, where no one else sees me. Why he likes it is beyond me. I have no butt, I have no boobs, so it's not like it accents anything. :rollseyes: Men... :D

If we are around other people, I generally wear a tankini because I'm more comfortable and don't feel so exposed. It's just a personal preference though. I have no problem with bikinis - on those that can get away with wearing them. We went to the beach a few years ago and saw a woman that looked to be in her 60's wearing a bikini thong! And I swear she had Cruella Deville hair with the black and gray thing going on. Hubby and I both almost lost our lunch and were scarred for life! :rolf:

Ugh, have you seen those overweight women? I don't mean a little bit overweight, either....I'm talking obese women in BIKINIS!

A one piece -- I'm shooting to look good in a Wicked Weasel bikini. I'd wear that if I had the body that went along with it.

I wear a bikini for now.... I suppose I will switch when I get stretch marks...

You must be one of the lucky ones that didn't get stretch marks while pregnant! I have a full "belt", goes all the way around my mid section. I must just be prone to them though cos I got stretch marks on the backs of my knees and back from growing when I was a kid.

Ugh, stretchmarks...:puke: another reason I ain't ever wearing a bikini.

Maybe we should start a "Whine about your stretch marks" thread. I would like to go swimming again and would probably get a tankini. So much better than rolling down a sticky wet one piece when you gotta go to the bathroom!

Actually a tankini covers more of my strech marks than a one piece would. I have quite a few stretch marks on the tops of my thighs that are covered by the tankini shorts that would be exposed by a one piece.

I only got them on my butt, as addressed on the other thread, and so they are still hidden :thumbsup:

I don't expect to always get so lucky and so I better go to a beach this summer or something in case its my last....

I hate one pieces because you feel wet longer. I hate getting out of the water and having that wet cold suit clinging to your skin.... yuck!

I have about 15 swinsuits that I mix and match. Now that I live in Florida, I have a very private backyard, so I am trying to get the nerve to go topless. All I can think about are those sattellites in space that can zoom all the way down to your back yard!!! :o I wear the most modest suit I have for the beach. I don't want to embarrass anyone :)

Debby, we have been here for a few weeks! We live in Seminole County. How far is Naples?

Naples is in Collier Co, we're about 3 hrs south of Tampa & 30 min south of Ft. Myers....Exit 101 on 75S...about as far south as you can go before you head East over to Miami B)

I am not sure how far I am from Tampa. I am just north of Orlando. So I would probably guess there is a 5-6 hour difference? I am still getting the area down. It took a year to get me to move here, well, you know how torn I was with hubby's job. With all of the media with missing children and all going on here, it just is a culture shock to me. Now with the stupid raccoons.....

Sorry I missed this thread recently. A Wicked Weasel is a type of bikini. Very revealing. Wicked Weasel bikinis Nothing modest about them.

I have no issues with going topless and probably would in public, but only at places where that is the norm.

I will be in Tampa the last week of March. I will have 2.5 days after my classes are over to just relax. So, if anyone wants to come on over, feel free. I'll be alone. My hubby and kids will be in San Diego vacationing. They didn't want to fly out to Tampa to meet me. It would've been too much for Henry to handle.

I'm thinking by that time, I still won't be able to fit into a bikini and look good, but if I was able to drop another 10 lbs of bodyfat, I'll certainly look better than where I'm at now. That will put me about half way to my goal (which was originally 40 lbs). I've lost a little over 10 lbs of bodyfat, so that will make it 20 lbs.

If I can get someone to watch Andie, maybe I can drive up & we can do lunch or something....that would be fun!! :hug:

I wouldn't risk going topless or the next thing there might be pictures of me on the internet taken by some loser with a digital camera from the house next door...... :nono:

One chick I could see everything but the hole itself, hello...... my bikinis are VERY modest in comparison..... Doris- I have only been to Tampa once, and I loved it! I won't be able to come anytime soon unless I remain unlucky on my job hunt. I am praying for employment by then.

Not every WW would I wear even if I had the body, but there are quite a few I would. I think in Europe, South America the Carribean Islands, etc. are great places to wear those. Some of the American beaches it may still be too immodest, whereas the Victoria Secret bikinis are way more modest.

I personally don't have issues with most of their bikinis because I don't find nudity a big thing. For me, the body is beautiful. It's not like I would be on the beach in one of those having sex. Sure, they leave little to the imagination. On the other hand, even though I view the body as beautiful, I wouldn't be wearing those unless my body was in very fit shape.

I have thought, would I go to a nude beach in the body I have now? My self-esteem isn't that good yet. Will it be one day? Dunno, but working on it.

Funnily enough I think it would be LESS sexual to actually be naked than to wear some of those bikini's. Maybe it's because they seem to be provocative to me rather than if someone was just naked it would just be them in their natural state.

I agree. I don't see nudity as inherently sexual, and it is not considered so in most of the world.

I'll be available for that Fri/Sat for whatever. Those 2 days are free for me. It would be great if we could do a girl's thing. I won't have a car. Those dates are 31-Mar and 1-Apr.
