Title: Dinner Menus

andiesmama - January 30, 2006 02:00 PM (GMT)
So....I was getting tired of cooking dinners for my D(fill in the blank for the "D")H and then just getting a non-committal answer when I asked him if he liked it/was it good/etc....if I didn't ask him, he never said anything....it's not like I need validation every time I cook, but when I put alot of effort into thinking of a menu & then putting it all together, it's nice to get some kudos once in awhile...

ANYWAYS....I told him this weekend that HE was going to help me think of dinner menus for this week so he'd have no reason to complain (not that he complains, it just doesn't seem like he enjoys it, ya know?). So he DID!!

I've got a whole menu to last me the entire week of his suggestions, so we'll see....

When we were first married my hubby ALWAYS said thank you and it was good, when it came to the meals I made. I got so uncomfortable with it, I asked him to stop saying that. So he did. Now I wouldn't mind hearing a "thank you" or "this is real good" once in a while....what did I do? :sigh:

The reason I asked him to stop was because I didn't think I was that good of a cook and secondly, cooking is something wives do for their hubbies...like him working...I never said "thank you for working for this paycheque so we can eat...yadda, yadda, yadda..."

Bleah, I'm rambling....

nah, you're not rambling. He'll say it every now & then, so when he DOES I know he REALLY enjoyed dinner....but it's kinda a bummer to go to alot of trouble & mess cooking something I THINK he'll love, and he says nothing or when I ask, I get a "oh, it was fine"....:lena: is what I feel like doing!

I should thank him more for working so hard, especially since right now he HATES his job....

My husband loves cooking and usually takes it upon himself to make the menu and shopping list. I cook mos of the time but he doesn't complain if he has to do the cooking. He usually does on the weekends. And tomorrow we are having salmon croquettes made with canned slmon, and I cannot handle the bones and skin in it so he will clean it out and make them :D

I'm not sure, but at our store it's in the same aisle as the tuna fish, right there in that same section....
