Title: Joys Of Being A Woman...part 2
andiesmama - January 30, 2006 01:55 PM (GMT)
Do you suffer from PMS? What are your symptoms? (cramps/bloating/munchies/raging lunatic) How do you cope? Drugs? "Natural" remedies? I've noticed lately that my mood swings when I'm PMSing are getting really noticeable....I take St. John's wort daily and normally up it when I'm PMSing, but even THAT'S not making much of a difference....

I'm the "raging lunatic". Seriously, this morning I was getting lunches ready and Luke decided to play the "guess who I like, mom"....I said, "Luke I'm NOT in the mood to be playing guessing games..." He kept saying guess, guess, guess....AUGH! So I said, "Luke, I'm not guessing!" He yells, "JESUS! I like JESUS!" Oh man...I felt awful. Still recovering from yeast infection AND PMS is coming on...I'm crawling under blankets today to hide away from the world.
After I make a few phone calls, of course....

 See, that's what makes me feel awful! Andie gets in a playful & silly mood and I just do NOT have the patience, so I end up yelling at her for no reason...
She usually tells me to take a deep breath so I'll feel better.... :(
Honey - January 30, 2006 02:12 PM (GMT)
Yeah, now when you've got your KIDS telling you to take a deep breath...you KNOW something's wrong... Mine don't say that because the last time they did, I used what breath I had to tell them NOT to say that to me....:wall: I am such a bad mom...

:haha: sorry....that was just funny! You're not a bad mom at all...it's just when Andie says that I KNOW it's time for me to take a step back...

I think it would be better to ask my hubby if I suffer from PMS  He could probably give a more accurate answer. I think generally I don't. I'm definitely not one of those that turns into the raging lunatic category. Used to be that I would just get a little bloating and a tummy ache for a few hours which could be fixed by just taking some tylenol.
Mandy - January 30, 2006 02:54 PM (GMT)
Bloating, cramping, and cravings. If I give in to the cravings, my blood sugar gets thrown out of wack...at which point the phrase "raving lunatic" might possibly apply...

:bath: Well, I just took a hot soak, so I'm better for now. :D Now, to tackle my chores....

used to not get PMS really much at all, however after this third baby I've notice that I do get irritable a few days before and for the first few couple of days. I also get leg cramps that run down the backs of my thighs, where before I didn't..No fun!

really? I get leg cramps, too, but they run down the FRONT of my leg....not fun...

I had bad leg cramps this morning...OW. I've noticed that things are getting worse since I hit 30. In my 20's I rarely had any real noticeable PMS symptoms, even after having babies.

Ugh! So this is what I have to look forward to in a few years?

Maybe, maybe not. For your sake, I hope not! :D
But, seriously, I've noticed alot of changes since I hit 30. It's almost annoying!

You mean things change MORE when you turn 30?! I'm still not out of puberty! (Seriously, I'm not.) So when exactly does life become predictable? :P

Never! Just when I think I've settles down into a predictable 28 day cycle--BAM! here we go for 323 days then 27 days then major cramps then no cramps
Really makes trying to get NFP figured out a real pain...

I've been off the pill for two months now and I noticed that although my period is the same - 3 days, my PMS is worse. I'm breaking out more, more bloating, and more irritable. I have always tried really hard not to appear PMS-like from the outside. My older brothers were constantly tormenting me with statements like - what are you on the rag? When I was grumpy as a teen (even when I wasn't...on the rag). So I always hated that assumption! Can't I just be grumpy?!!
Mandy - January 31, 2006 11:47 PM (GMT)
I hate that too! It used to be whenever I said something Chad didn't like he'd make a PMS comment, even if I was totally calm and unemotional.
I can be grumpy without PMS.
I can have an opinion without being grumpy.
Even if I am grumpy and PMS'ing, my opinions can still be valid.
So there :P
:D
