Title: Spongeworthy....

andiesmama - January 28, 2006 11:43 PM (GMT)
Did you guys know the Today Sponge is back on the shelves? I'm so excited! lol Because hubby HATES using condoms, I've been using Encare (vaginal suppository, spermicide) but those are kinda messy....I've had some friends say good things about the sponge and a PLUS is that they're good for 24 hours, so it's not "interrupting" things to use it....

Anyone had any experience with them? I bought a 3-pack today to try it out....

Nope. We went the snip-snip route...

Have fun trying! Now what if a mini Andie comes along? :eyebrows:

They do have a spermicide, it's a combo barrier method (kinda like a cervical cap) and spermicide.

I tried it this weekend....it was a challenge getting it in there...but I'm sure it'll become easier with practice...and it was kinda nice because it lasts for 24 hours, so it really DID allow for "spontenaity"...

Getting it out, tho.... ....actually, not that bad but messy! Still, on a scale of 1 - 10, I give it an 8!!

How much did they cost?

 Kinda expensive...the 3 pack I bought was $9.99....compared to Encare that I normally use, thats 12 in a pack for $10.49. BUT with Encare, you have to put one in each time....I figure I can have the sponge on hand for the weekends...and just use the Encare during the week.

They also have a larger pack (6 or maybe 12 I think) of them, but I don't know how much those were....

Yeah, dumb question...

They have a loop on them, so you just find it (THAT being the tricky part...I was panicked there for a second! lol) and pull it right out....

My hub's allergic to spermacide. The last time we tried anything with spermacide in it was in 2000--he burned for almost a whole day afterward...
