How can you say that!

ĄCafe es la juga de vida!

At least that's what I tell folks at church when they ask me why I'm on my fourth cup in thirty minutes. Coffee is the juice of life!

'Sides, since I'm no longer drinking booze, I gotta get a buzz somehow! :tease:

I believe that God created every part our bodies to function in certain ways. If we chose to misuse those parts of our bodies for other functions, then it is sinful. I believe that a person who participates in this behavior will be held accountable for that sin at the final Judgement, unles he/she repents. The digestive tract is not intended for digesting the juice of the coffee bean....

1. Parts of the food/drink that are created to be digested produce natural enzymes to digest.

2. Coffee does not taste as good as tea.

3. Icky taste in coffee make it not so "clean." This icky taste can cause ugly faces and mild headaches.

These are just a few of the probems with coffee drinking...

Beyond the physical ramifications, I believe there to be spiritual side effects also. Remember that our bodies and our souls are connected and whatever you do to the body, you do to the soul. Current day christians have become confused as to right and wrong in many areas because the lines has become blurred. It is not so easy to recognise sin as sin anymore. If the mouth was not designed to drink coffee, and if drinking coffee is a sin against the body and the soul, then there will most certainly be more long term effects from the act. Perhaps in this life it may not seem to show up, but certainly in the life to come, when our sins that we have not repented from are on display for the whole world to see...I believe that we will have to answer to God for whatever sins we engaged in and refused to repent from. Also if one spouse wants to drink coffee and pressures the other spouse into sinning in this way, Not only will the first party be held accountable for the sin itself but also for causing the second person to sin. the second person will then be accountable for the sin itself also.

God did not create the tongue for coffee taste. I believe to do so is sinful and damaging not only to the body but the spirit. The desire for this behavior, I believe, stems not from the natural good taste buds given by God, but from the twisted sinful nature of the fallen world. Therefore I believe that the desire to drink coffee and to be a mocha drinker is sinful. To pressure our own wicked desires onto another person is even more sinful.

It is my belief that this desire, as many of our unnatural fleshly desires, is one that should be controlled and overcome through prayer and submission to God. I suggest that you consider this deeply and consider whether you are willing to risk the spiritual consequences that this may bring on, to yourself and your wife. Is this plesure worth the eternal consequences? Are you willing to pressure your wife into this and thus subject her to the same judgement before God for this behavior. Look past modern society and its acceptance of this behavior to seek the spiritual truth in this matter.

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Coffee creates bile. Bile is a natural enzyme that helps digest foods like donuts.

2. Coffee does not taste as good as tea.

Au contrair, mon bon frer, coffee tastes much better than tea. I love iced tea and drink it all the time - without any kind of sweetener. Sweet tea = . But coffee is a better pick-me-up than tea and therefore tastes better. :rolf:

Removal of coffee from one's diet will cause severe headaches! B)

I like my coffee like I like my beer. Black, bitter and room temperature.

I liked ales and stouts L-O-N-G before I liked coffee. So, coffee was just a new experience along the same lines. Gotta let it cool, though. Can't drink it fresh outta the pot!

AMEN Brother SQUAT !!!

Honey - January 27, 2006 02:27 AM (GMT)
Squat...you are SO BAD! I was a tea drinker for 15 years. Tea makes my teeth feel GRITTY! Coffee on the other hand...which I just started drinking last year, has a much cleaner taste. Tea contains tanic ACID which is probably why it feels so gritty! Tea also helps reduce swelling on bruises...what does that do to your INSIDES??? :puke:

I'll take coffee over tea ANY day! :cheeky:

Oh, and congrats, String! SUCKER! :haha:

Man, sumthins jes bad wrong in here, I mean bad wrong. I gotta go burn my eyes outta their sockets for the blasphemy that's been spouted off in here. What, I says What gives ya the right, nay the gall, nay the cahonies (sp?) to waltz in here an say that coffee is sinful?!?!?

I gotta say though, I'm down to jes bout half a pot a day now, used to be 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 a day, but my o'l kidneys started complainin... so I had to go back to drinkin a bit of water throughout the day, it was all that Navy coffee an that acid I was gittin at truckstops. I'd rather someone jes change out my IV once in a while, save me from havin to go fill my cup up all the time hehe

You're drinking the wrong kinda tea, lady! Gritty teeth?

I can't drink coffee without loading it with sugar. It tastes so bad. And it makes your pee stink.

clayman - January 27, 2006 01:05 PM (GMT)
Tea is no more or less helpful or harmful than coffee. To equate this with Squat's statement, they're both evil. Therefore, we should drink only beer. :tease:

Coffee - Contains various carbohydrates - most of which are destroyed during roasting. Caffeine (an alkaloid) is present, of course. Trigonelline is noted for it anti-tumor properties. Nicotinic acid (a vitamin) and various amino acids are present. Roasting creates more than 30 known acids.

Tea - contains a great deal of 'flavonoids' which are antioxidants. The aforementioned Tannic Acid falls under this category. During roasting, an oxidizing chemical is destroyed (which would couteract the use of antioxidants). There are other chemicals as well, such as trace amounts of proteins, lipids and minerals. The various acids in tea (nicotinic acid , pantothenic acid, ascorbic acid) are vitamins.

String....I NEVER drink coffee or beer and rarely drink tea....

I kinda like the taste of tea, but really only drink it on very rare occasion....

I was raised on Peppermint Tea - all natural, no caffiene. I don't really care for any of that other stuff.

But Clay, just as an FYI, coffee has 4 times the amount of caffiene that tea has, hence the addiction that people have.

My opinion is that if people are drinking something due to an addictive substance, then it can't be good.

Addicted2~Jesus - January 27, 2006 04:22 PM (GMT)
Ugh! You dittzy blonds up there, probly drink your cream an sugar wit a hint of coffee in it right? LOL Would you like some coffee to go wit your cream an sugar?

All I drink is coffee an tea, wit a side of water from time to time when I'm in the truck an yeah Clay... would probly be a good idea to have a look see, ever once in a while I gotta lay off to jes bout half a pot er day to clean the kids up agin. Dern em lil boggers!
