Title: Greetings From Pakistan

Jesuslover - January 16, 2006 01:23 PM (GMT)
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings in the name of Lord our God.
Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father!
Here I want to share with you bit about me and about the children Ministry I am working but I wish to let you know more about me and about my work by this email, My full name is Javed Irshad and I am 29 years old, I am single male and am Christian by faith and I am living with mom and dad I have a sister and a brother who are younger then me. I was born in a Christian family and it was blessing for me to know Jesus as my Lord in my early age.
I am servant of the Lord and am working for Christian Community in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan from the platform of Little Disciples of Jesus Children Ministry, and I am working for the Ministry as a head with them. This Ministry was raised up to work with the needy and deserving, children in Toba Tek Singh (my own town) and from there to extended to the other Town Faisalabad and then 3 more town around my town. We are serving now in the total 5 towns in the Pakistan and we have more then 100 children in these 5 groups.
Little Disciples of Jesus Children Ministry is working for the Christian Street Children who do not have support from the family because of poverty and those who are forced to child labor, and other activities because of not being tended with love and care. The Christian people do not get equal rights as the Muslims possess. And with the passage of time the Muslims people have developed so much of grudge against the Christian that they do not wish to mix with them and do not wish to eat and drink with the same dishes and the glasses as the Christians do. It is noteworthy to explain Pakistan's situation in detail. Pakistan is an Islamic country where the Christians form 1. 7% of the total 135 millions of population. Being under the heavy flood of religious fundamentalism the constitutional and social prejudice and is practiced with Christians. According to the law, Christians cannot become president, prime minister, chief of army staff and chief justice of the county. The blasphemy law, most of the causes have been founded false and based on personal rifts. The prejudice and in fact hatred among the common people of the Muslim create serious problems in the social lives of the Christians. The religious fundamentalists grown up to the grass roots level.
The Islamic fundamentalists in the country have their strong roots in the villages and small towns all over the country and the youth who went for the training for Jihad is brain washed injecting specific teaching against Christians. These terrorists if survive in their fights do not have any other skills to earn their living so they become professional terrorists and play at the hands of the religious leaders. Since the interaction of the Christians with the Muslim community have not grown and limited interaction, if any, makes Christians dependent of the Muslims, the Christians are resource less and poor and they have to depend on the Muslims for their economic and social survival. They have to depend on the Muslims for survival. This kind of interaction cannot ensure equal status for the Christians. In this background the Christians, due to their faiths, become the most vulnerable community in the country. Most of the Christians people living in the cities do the sanitary work, socially degradable profession, and they have to cling to it for centuries as there are no prospects for them to grow. The Christians people in the villages work on the lands of the Muslims people and are considered 'out class' and `Not Touchable' in the social life.
The mission of the Little Disciples of Jesus Children Ministry is to spread the Word of God through preaching, teaching and helping Christian’s children with their basic needs of life, we are seeking to ensure that children get chance to receive Biblical Education along with their fair Formal Education, purified of the entire biased and discriminated syllabus. So that they may grow in Christian faith and spirit in suffering, hardships and troubles. And they may praise, this ministry is providing with Sunday schools in Toba Tek Singh and in Faisalabad, Multan, Gojra, and Khanewal where Little Disciples learn the Bible and Christ. The Sunday school endeavors to show the Little Disciples Christian Movies, on the DVD we have got many Christian Movies to show them because we think that it is easy way to learn for them. Though we do not have TV and DVD player but they watch on my computer but we could not show these movies in the other towns of the children because we have no other way to show them these Christian children’s DVD’ s. And provide them with Christian Story Books to make the learning easy and comprehendible. And we have got many Christian Urdu Bible stories and they color these books and learn from them too We are trying to teach them Christian songs in their native language and some times in English ,Keeping in view the importance of Formal Education we have helping them in Toba Tek Singh.
And for myself I am a part of the daily fellowship in my Church and now I am glad to have fellowship with you and the part of your Church and I pray that we will have a wonderful fellowship. For this I am grateful to the Lord. If you have any question please you can ask to me any time and I will let you know and I will try to explain whatever you wish to know more about us. And about the work with the Little Disciples of Jesus Ministry.

I will be grateful to your prayers and moral support.. And accepting me as the part of your fellowship.

Yours brother in Christ,
Javed Irshad

Wow! That is truly amazing! I do not know what it is like to be in your shoes. I'm not sure I want to...

I am very happy to hear of your ministry there in Pakistan, and would like to converse with you regarding it. It sounds like fascinating work. You are in my prayers.

I once became friends with a Muslim from Pakistan. His family invited my family to eat at a Pakistani restaurant during Ramadan in 1999. The food was not served until after sundown prayers. My wife and I were not yet Christians, though we did not pray with the Muslims.

I must say that the food was outstanding. I don't remember the soup - it was a very spicy beef broth served with pita bread - I ate about four bowls of it! It was delicious!

Pakistani food is very spicy. My wife could not eat much that night. I fell in love with the food.

I would like to meet with Saad again and discuss my faith with him. I am no longer the man who went with him to that restaurant.

Again, may God bless the work you are doing in His name.

Oh - and don't be scared off by some of our topics. We like to have some fun here...

Javed,

Hey! It's great to have you!! Wow, that is truly an awesome ministry in such a rough environment. I think I can speak for more people than myself when I say that us christians in america (and canada, if they count) truly do take our religious freedoms for granted. I truly admire your faith to work for the good of others under such harsh conditions! A true inspiration to us all.

As Clay Said .... Please do not be scared off by all the joking around that we do on the site. I realize that sometimes American customs can seem quite bizarre. It would truly be great if you could stick around the site and share your experiences with us.

God Bless,

Of course Canada counts.

Welcome Javed! There are millions of Pakistanis where I live and I've grown up to know much about the culture, so I'm familiar with how difficult it must be for you to be a Christian in that country.

Stay strong as a soldier for Christ! Great mission!
