Title: Workout Videos?
ceres - January 14, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
Yeah so I've never done one before but I'm thinking about it. I hate cold, and even when I bundle up I worry the whole time about my son being too cold in the stroller. It breaks my concentration. So I was thinking about using a video or something.... I can't afford a gym.... I gotta do SOMETHING.
Have any of you tried them before?

I've got the Walk Away the Pounds series....1,2 and 3 mile walking workouts. It's really more like marching in place...."almost" jogging in place! She also incorporates alot of upper body, as well as leg lifts, knee lifts, side steps, etc. I just started using hand weights with the workout...really helps pump it up for me.
I bought these to use to take off the weight after Andie was born....getting back into them again...they work really well for me, anyways!

My wife has several...
*Redguard looks up at the bookshelf*
I see the following... don't laugh.
1. Billy Blanks' Tae Bo: The Future of Fitness
2. Carmen Electra's Fit to Strip
3. Carmen Electra's Advanced Aerobic Striptease
4. Carmen Electra's The Lap Dance & Hip Hop
The Carmen Electra workout dvds are cheesy beyond comprehension, but they give her a good workout.
My wife also uses an Xbox videogame called "Yourself!Fitness" that's customized based on your age, weight, and fitness goals. It also measures how often you use the game and adjusts your workouts accordingly.
The personal trainer speaks to you. She's harsh if you've gone a few days without running your next session. The more workouts you do, the more music genres you can unlock and you can also unlock different sceneries. You also get to use dumbells and Swiss Exercise Balls if you have them.
I've done a few myself under my own profile.
Here's the game:

I've had some Belly Dance fitness DVDs on my Blockbuster.com list for months...but I've been too chicken to try them. Anyone (or your wives) try those yet?
I'm also checking on Ebay for Yourself! Fitness. This looks so cool Red, thanks!

I have a couple of bellydance DVDs. I've only looked over them (actually was thinking about going through one of them tomorrow; reading my mind, huh Lynn? :) ); they look good though.

Really? There was only one for PS2 and it was already at $44. Which was pretty stupid, since I could buy it directly from the site for $35.
I think I'm going to use this game as my 10 lb. incentive. I have a yoga mat, hand weights, and a balance ball. But I don't have a step. I wonder what I can use instead?

A step stool? If it's not too high.... I used just my regular Rubbermaid stepstool once for exercising...BIG mistake. Never again.
My sisters did Taebo. One said she nearly kicked her kids in the heads and they soon learned to stay out of mommy's way when she's kicking around in the living room. :haha: Poor kids! From my sister's reports, it sounds dangerous with kids around...on second thought....hehehe
