Title: Toaster Oven Vs Microwave

Which is better? I still don't have a microwave and it takes forever to re-heat anything! :wall: Hubby wants to get a toaster oven and I say microwave.

So, which would be the better deal?

Microwave definitely. The only thing I use our toaster oven for is toast. I think microwaves are much more functional overall.

Both have their benefits for different types of foods.

But I think that microwaves have a slight advantage.

Both are great depending on what you do... I actually cook more with a toaster oven when it's available ... but that's just me...

andiesmama - January 13, 2006 08:01 PM (GMT)
well, you can't cook tv dinners or re-heat tupperware stuff in the toaster oven...but I think I use my toaster oven more on average...toasted cheese sandwiches, toast, biscuits, that kind of stuff....depends on what you're primarily going to use it for.

Microwave is more universal, I know....now to get hub to agree with me...

clayman - January 13, 2006 08:29 PM (GMT)
I have to agree. If I had the choice, I'd take the microwave. But I do like my toaster oven. We do a lot of small stuff there - especially in Yewsten summers. Sarah, I'm surprised you don't! It keeps the kitchen cooler.

Tell Abe that Eminem likes microwaves.

That should convince him!

Everything gets done using a pan in my house. We only ever use the oven in winter on the cool days.

I say toaster oven. We rarely use our microwave. I use the toaster oven all the time, especially when cooking for the kids - mozzarella sticks, chicken nuggets, french fries...wow it sounds like my kids eat pretty badly, huh?

I agree they are good for different things.

Toaster ovens will haet like a small oven, microwaves heat like.... well, microwaves.

:thanks:

For reheating pizza I think the toaster oven is MUCH better in that regard....

clayman - January 14, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
Then again, I've seen combo units that have both equipment in one package. I don't know how well they work, though.

Amen sister....nothing like warmed up, rubbery microwave pizza!!

Yeah, my kids now enjoy their little pizzas being heated in the oven instead of the microwave. Spoiled, I say! SPOILED! :D
